The “terrorist loophole” amendment was a bad idea anyway. There is no due process involved in being placed on the no fly list.
Yeah, I saw a detailed post on the proposal last week (I think I reblogged it) and it made Republican objections to the idea seem more reasonable, due to the way they restrict people’s rights without due process, and how large (20.000+ people) and often incorrect these lists are - in addition it’d make it a litmus test for any actual terrorist to check if any agencies are keeping an eye on him.
Nevertheless it’s disappointing to see that we’re not an inch further. I believe 2 proposals were Democrats’ and 2 were Republicans’, but I haven’t read up yet on what the Republican proposals entailed, or which party has the majority of the blame for keeping them from passing.
bobbityhobbity replied to your post “mid-twenties is such a weird time period of life that no one talks...”
I got married at 22 to a guy who was 28, so my experience is different, but most of my friends in my mid-twenties were older just because of who I was with.
but my mid-twenties were, apart from my teens, probably the angstiest period of my life
that’s what i’m thinking i may be lacking, which is why i was so struck by my thoughts last night while hanging out with some new people who were all very early-20-somethings. I’m the oldest of my siblings and most of my friends have always been my same age or younger than me. Which I’ve never truly thought of as any kind of issue before now... I didn’t mind being the oldest, and being ahead of others, because i guess it kinda felt like i had an edge on things, without me even really noticing?
But that seniority starts to unexpectedly cave when you hit the mid-20s. It gets wrapped up in defense mechanisms when you don’t know how to handle shit, which end up possibly parading as superiority complexes to those younger than you, all of which manifest themselves through insecurities. Insecurities that are fostered through the stresses of living through the surprise nuances of being a mid-20-something that no one tells you about!!!!! it’s horrible!!
& it was pointed out to me that it’s probably related to a post-school thing, too. Maybe some prolong it by immediately jumping in to grad school, but post-academia life is probably more accurate than “mid-20s”.
I could see how getting invested in someone who is/people who are older would be beneficial; they could give relief to being in whatever stage of life, because they’ve already gone through it/are still going through it but already carry more experience with it. And either way, their priorities and perspectives reflect accordingly, which is useful in a social-sense to a mid-20-something in a way that an early-20-something could never provide.
I thought my teens were kinda angsty, but they were based more so in angst-for-angst’s sake. Mid-20s so far has been filled with SUPER ANGST that weighs itself more so in EXISTENTIAL DREAD, & i’m sorry to say i’m kinda glad that was a thing for you too... and i’m just really really really hoping by the time i’m 30 (an arbitrary number that, again, i’m using as a generalization to make a point) that I will have been able to grow... past it... or something

At least the Korra fandom never started calling their brown character a “monkey” like the Cl.exa fans have to Bel.lamy. But the fact they are carrying that goddamn handm.aiden joke around and calling Bel.larke fans “lesbophobic” is quite familier. yikes
@ebonynightwriter
I'm so glad my peak interest in that only lasted for a few weeks about a month before everyone else got into it cause that fandom is MESSY AF. THE BULLET WAS DODGED
One day fans will be able to handle a bisexual main character responsibly without fighting and discourse™ but today is not that day.

it's been looking better lately?
True but honest to god whenever she appears first in an episode I just think about you commenting on her wig.
I haven't ever been able to take Rachel seriously since @bobbityhobbity pointed out her wig looks kind of bad like in season 2.

Migratory Scorched Earth Femslash Fandom
I’m SCREAMING THIS IS THE NEW TERM.
It’s like every new Femslash pairing throws up this statue of femslash that reads:
“Give me your tired, your gay, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe femslash, The wretched refuse of your teeming fandom. Send these, the shipless, tempest-tossed, to me: I lift my lamp beside the femslash door.”

It’s also sad in a way because it shows you how desperate people are for f/f pairings but at the same time I’m like “please don’t associate me with those people who ruined my fav fandoms I’m a good noodle.”
@bobbityhobbity - “IT'S A REALLY GOOD SEASON”
I meant to binge it on the plane to China but the soundport of my iPad broke and I didn’t know.
