Clear free kick to Spurs. Well done ref.
Immensely proud of my club tonight. We lost to the better team (and an absolutely outstanding goal by Gareth Bale) and there’s nothing wrong with that. Losing Salah hurt us but several of our players stood up, especially Mane and Lovren. We’ve been brilliant this season and we’re back at the highest level, which is what we all wanted when Klopp came in. And he’s not finished yet. I’d have taken us finishing second in the Champions League at the start of the season, wouldn’t you? As for my choice of photo, I don’t do it to slag Loris Karius, far from it. He’s been superb in the second half of the season and is a big reason we got to the final. The problem is he’s shown when the pressure is on the most he can’t handle it. Not his fault, some players can and some can’t. He’ll be a sound back up but tonight has shown he’s not going to be the keeper we need if we want to stay at this level and go further. Allez Allez Allez!
ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ!!!
Manchester City 1 Liverpool 2 (Liverpool win 5-1 on aggregate)
17 goals in four away Champions League games
79 goals for our front three so far this season
With eight goals each, Mo Salah and Bobby Firmino have scored more goals in a Champions League than any Liverpool player. One more for either will see them level a record set by Dean Saunders of nine goals in a European competition - with at least two more games to come(!)
We have scored more goals in a Champions League season (33) than any other English side
Our fans were waving the pathetic plastic flags City gave out for free
We’re the only side to beat a Pep Guardiola side three times in a season (cheers for getting yourself sent off too, soft lad)
Up the Champions League Reds!
Congratulations to AS Roma too. Long had a soft spot for them so I’m delighted they’ve knocked Barcelona out. Poor Coutinho…
Liverpool 4 Arsenal 0 (Roberto Firmino 17, Sadio Mane 40, Mohamed Salah 57, Daniel Sturridge 77)
Six years ago tomorrow Arsenal lost 8-2 at Old Trafford. Today’s demolishing at Anfield is worse than even then as it shows nothing was learnt that day. I’d have to open up the Thesaurus to find a word even close to being able to describe how terrible they were.
We didn’t beat Arsenal. We destroyed them. We thumped them. We tore them apart. And we did it in third gear.
Roll on Man City after the international break.
Mo Salah is just stupidly fast. Every time he sets off I expect to see a cartoon dust cloud of him hovering where he set off from.
All three of our forward players have now scored for the second time in three league games.
Arsenal need a long, hard look at themselves. They’ve been fucking terrible. And that’s me being kind.
As for you Philippe Coutinho… good job you have put in a transfer request to go to Barcelona, leaving is your main chance of getting a game at the moment!
Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah either side of Roberto Firmino with Philippe Coutinho behind them? Damn... we’re gonna fuck shit up next season.
Mohamed Salah has this evening (finally) been unveiled as a Liverpool player. He joins from AS Roma for an initial £36.9m which could rise above £40m depending on certain conditions. Whether they happen or not, the pacy Egptian winger replaces Andy Carroll as our most expensive ever player.
As for the shirt number, the club asked Roberto Firmino if he would mind letting Salah have it and he had no objections. To be honest I doubt he’ll remember the conversation as he’s been on the piss for the past week after his wedding - or if he’s now our new number nine.
Only way this photo could be better is if they were looking right at the Everton fans.
