Bad date stories? Sure! Let me tell you about my first date ever! I was 18 years old, and had never been asked out on a date. I had just started college, and I was telling a neighbor girl in my dorm about it. She was like “you have never been on a date?!?” Appalled! (Great for my self esteem by the way since I was already convinced I was undesirable and a freak) 🙄🙄 so she says she has a cousin who she wants to set me up with. Being the young naïve child I am a agree. She tells me he is 21, 6’2 (I’m 6 ft tall myself, so it was an important detail.) and the nicest guy.
So he comes to pick me up for our date, and he’s not bad looking, but he is soooo awkward. He barely says 2 words to me the entire time to the restaurant, so we are just sitting in silence, because the radio in his car doesn’t work! 😩 we get to the restaurant, and while we are looking over the menu he says “with my tan skin, and your blue eyes our children are going to be unstoppable.” I just sat there owl blinking at him, convinced I misheard him. But then he doubles down with “I bet they will be killer athletes too!” I just nervous laugh because once again I have no experience with men at all, and have no idea how to conduct myself when I am uncomfortable. The entire time we are eating he is just talking about our future marriage and children.
After dinner and desert, I am thinking FINALLY I am going home, oh no, he decides to take a drive up the canyon to look over the city. I spend the next HOUR AND A HALF glued to the passenger side window trying to stay as far away from him as possible, he keeps inching closer and talking about how romantic this all is. 🙈 I finally find my voice as he gets close to me and say that I have to work early in the morning and need to call it a night. Mind you the date had now been over 4 hours. He takes me home, and is talking about how he can’t wait to see how our future will play out.
For the next 6 months I dodge his phone calls/texts and invitations out for more dates. He finally seemed to get the hint, and my neighbor gets mad at me saying I shouldn’t have lead him on just to ghost him. We obviously didn’t remain friends. However the story doesn’t end here unfortunately. Fast forward 2 years, I am walking on campus listening to my iPod (this is 2011 I’m old) 😂 I am coming up to a stop light and have to wait to cross the street. My arm swings forward just as the person in front of me swings their arm back, and I accidentally grab the hand of a stranger 😭😭 he turns around and it is that same boy!! I about died!! He was so petty about it, and was bragging about how he was engaged to be married. But it ended up being a lie!!! Anyways what a ride. Side note I was actually dating my now husband at the time, and I ended up getting engaged like a month later. Jokes on him.
omfg, middle of that second paragraph and my jaw DROPPED. he really just. dropped all of that on you huh? and you were 18? holy smokes, babe, that is batshit wild!!!
some men truly cannot take a hint and the fact that it took him 6 months to figure out that you don't want to talk to him! WOW!!!
that meeting 2 years later though... straight out of a k-drama or something LMAO 🤣🤣 how's it feel knowing you won that entire interaction/won at life in general? 🤣
