This is about to get pretty personal and is a hc based completely off projection, but if anyone can relate to being that odd one out friend, the one who walks on the grass when the pavement gets narrow, who works alone when the group project doesn't have space, who tells everyone to go ahead with a plan when their schedule doesn't line up with everyone else's, i think that's how nirei sees himself.

Obviously his friends wouldn't actually exclude him from things, but in a scenario where all bar one can be included in something, I can see him expecting and volunteering to be the person left out.
