10, 14, 27, 28, 33, 36, 39, 40, 46, 47 for Jasper, Arthur, Jericho, Alice, Roddy, Rabbit. Sorry, if it’s too many – please answer those you like (I certainly want to know everything, but I tried to choose the most interesting questions)
Haha holy shit. Someone wanting to know stuff about my OC-OCs. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
But it’s going under a read-more because it’s huge. 8)
10: Neuroses? Do they recognize them as such?
Jasper: A few things. Obsessive-compulsive about neatness, but not in the extreme. He’s not going to lose it over stationery placed at the wrong angle. But he does detest clutter and disorganisation and dirt and will automatically go out of his way to set a picture frame straight, or replace a pen in a pen tin or a dirty mug from a table into the sink (or he’ll just wash it then and there because then it isn’t there, in the room, being unwashed). Everything in its place. He’s also pretty obsessive about control. Total control freak about virtually everything. Actually everyone on this list is a control freak except Alice.
Arthur: Uhh let’s see, obsessive bloodlust, obsessive anger/hatred towards the world that culminates in bloodlust, his brother, his brother’s dumbshit religious activities/employment, seething jealousy of his brother’s various forbidden extracurricular activities (read: manipulated teenage girls)… I feel like there should be more but it isn’t coming to me. Assume he is basically made up of neuroses about control and brooding anger.
Alice: I think she’s just a tiny little ball of neurotic problems. She’s afraid of so many things and is extremely highly strung, but she’s also given to totally falling flat and ignoring everything going on around her in favour of total mental shutdown as well. Afraid to die but wants to die, can’t find any consolation, and is constantly on the verge of collapse. Terrified of making eye contact with people for too long in case she has to watch them die, and no matter how many times it happens it doesn’t seem to get easier because it feels like she’s dying with them and their deaths change a lot depending on choices they’ve made in their day to day lives. It’s complex. She’s all down-hill from here.
Jericho: Control freak, obsessed with death and immortality, completely neurotic about his power versus appearance; He’ll never get over the fact he didn’t ‘get to grow up’ physically and the way people don’t respect him because he looks like a child. A lot of his neurosis is buried pretty deep though, stuff that won’t come out until he’s pushed beyond a limit he can’t handle.
Roddy: Completely neurotic about his appearance. Vain as all hell and his hair is particularly touchy. He’ll lose it if you mess up his hair or spill anything on it. If someone ripped a clump of it out they would… well, he’d probably tear them apart, quite literally. He’s pretty, uh, obsessed with sex and blood too. Other than that he’s not so bad (ahaha what am I saying he’s a terrible person in every way).
Rabbit: Foul temper, also a total control freak, and highly strung when it comes to both. Things go slightly off-kilter or take an unexpected turn and he immediately flushes with anxiety, anger or both. Or jealousy. Doesn’t take much. Even taking a wrong turn somewhere will send a spike of irritable anxiety through him. And that will make him reckless. And the longer the situation goes without being fixed and returning to what he expects or plans, the more he’ll lose it. And like almost everyone up there, he likes killing things. A lot. This is going to get very repetitive in that respect ahaha I’m sorry you picked all the worst offenders for out of control bloody violence.
14: Physical abnormalities?
Jasper: None to speak of. For a while I had him with stigmata, but I think I want to switch it to a different character. There was supposed to be a sort of irony in it because he’s basically everything Jesus is not, so he should never ever be ‘blessed’ with that kind of holy infliction but it was going to illustrate a point about the manifestation of those sorts of afflictions based on surroundings and cultural expectation over actual belief and fanaticism. Anyway, he probably doesn’t have that any more. No weird illnesses or scars or marks. He does have very cat-like eyes and sharp teeth but that’s part of his vampirism/demonism so it isn’t really abnormal unless he’s allowing it to be visible to the mundane human peons of the world.
Arthur: He’s tall. Real tall. Like almost 7 feet tall. Dunno if I want to change that and knock several inches off him though, very difficult to decide. He has an abnormally high number of body piercings, but those are obviously something he’s done by choice, not been born or inflicted with. Again, nothing remarkable in regards to illnesses, no disabilities.
Alice: A small scar on her chest over her heart where she was apparently shot. The bullet hit a rib instead and she survived it, though she was left in an induced coma for a while, for recovery purposes. As a child she would get sick relatively easily, and still does, because her immune system is not particularly strong. She didn’t go out doing a lot of playing in the dirt and touching gross things that really helps kids develop strong immune systems. Probably a couple of hairline, barely-noticable scars on her hands from screwing up while cooking, or from having a couple of moles removed, but that’s about it.
Jericho: Being as old as modern humanity while stuck unable to age is something he considers a pretty huge problem. But ask him if he actually wants to grow up, grow old and die (do not). No visible marks or scars, but he has bloody red, slit-pupiled eyes. He can ‘switch’ that off any time he wants, but he’s proud and arrogant, and considers keeping them perpetually demonic to be almost a badge of honour. Presumably passers-by who notice must assume he’s a weird teenager who can’t possibly leave the house without dressing up and wearing novelty contact lenses. Fools. He’ll destroy them all.
Roddy: Nothing of note.
Rabbit: A few scars on his body from endless vicious fighting. The thing with all of the above gentlemen is that because they’re all demonic they just. Regenerate. So scarring is kind of not an issue for them. Rabbit, however, is proud of his ‘war wounds’ so he allows some of the scars to remain. Makes him more imposing (makes him look/feel like more of a badass amirite).
27: What is their biggest regret? This one is very similar to 36 about guilt, so I’ll just merge them here.
Jasper: Haha, good question. He’ll tell you he’s not in the habit of regretting anything. Whether he does or not is entirely up for debate and he’s going to amiably humour you but reveal absolutely nothing. He feels guilty about trying to keep Arthur beneath his heel, but when you have a reckless, bloodlusting serial killer for a brother you kind of want to keep him as controlled as possible and make him think ahead enough to clean up his messes so you don’t have to keep doing it for him.
Arthur: A few. Mostly relating to his quietly but severely tempestuous relationship with his brother. Nobody would notice anything negative between them but since it’s a never-ending power-struggle of wills… he’s physically stronger and given to far worse verbal abuse though on the rare occasions he gets going. He often feels guilt over his words, because he knows he’s ridiculously, absurdly vicious. Jasper probably doesn’t ultimately care one way or another about the words, just the potential for psychotic, violent meltdown that goes with them.
Alice: At this point her biggest regret would have to be going downstairs to see what the hell was going on in the entry hall at home in the middle of the night when someone wiped the floor with her family. They might just have left without wiping the floor with her as well if she hadn’t come down and made herself known. Then she wouldn’t have almost died, and seen way too much as it happened instead of just some aftermath. :D She feels quietly guilty about her inability to 'get better’ and shutting out her new guardian but she doesn’t have much to say and she probably doesn’t understand that she’s still trying to process a lot of grief and post-trauma.
Jericho: Regrets and guilt are tedious and he has no time for that. He’s got an awful lot of time for sitting and planning though. He does have a few regrets when it comes to situations he ended up in, but only because it resulted in him being kept and abused. What he did to those responsible later is of absolutely no concern to him.
Roddy: No major regrets to speak of. He’s pretty easygoing and hasn’t yet had to lose enough to suffer serious regret. Not given to a lot of guilt either, because he’s so self-absorbed and assumes everyone else is equally capable of letting shit roll off their backs as he is.
Rabbit: Ditto Rabbit, though he does regret when he loses his temper and beats on his brother. Roddy deserved it, fuck off. Don’t judge him. He sees you there, judging him. U WANNA GO M8.
28: Who do they see as their best friend? Their worst enemy?
Jasper: Best friend, his brother. Worst enemy? Uh… his brother.
Arthur: Ditto above. He’d also like to add to the 'worst enemy’ column anyone who harms his brother. That’s a crime worth death if anyone but him does it.
Alice: Doesn’t really have a best friend, she’s too introverted and anxious. Her worst enemy is whoever murdered her parents and injured her, but she doesn’t know who they might be and I don’t think she’d see it in terms of personal 'enemies’.
Jericho: His best friend is himself, because screw everyone else. His worst enemy is… he doesn’t know. There are a lot of tedious people and tedious people in his way, but they are minor inconveniences. He’s more concerned with matters of life, death and time. His worst enemy might actually be time, in one way or another.
Roddy: Probably imagines he’s best buddies with Jericho but he’s very wrong. Also probably doesn’t care. He thinks he’s best friends with anyone he really likes.
Rabbit: As if you would. You are assuming he has actual friends. People he can tolerate long enough to develop such an intimate, trusting bond. >:( To be honest he probably has no interest in the concept, and neither do Roddy, Jer, Jasper or Arthur.
33: Concept of home and family?
Jasper and Arthur’s concept of it is basically the two of them, wherever they decide to park themselves. They’ve long since discarded parental security and love as a thing they associate with family, and though their home is firmly rooted in the Hebridean isles of Scotland, they don’t having any pressing yearning to return to it for the sake of being there. Not at present, anyway.
Alice thinks of home and family in a pretty generic teenage-girl way. Security and unconditional love, that kind of thing. She has neither of those now, so home is just wherever her bed and belongings are, where she’s protected by someone bigger and stronger and more adult than she is. Her current guardian fills all those roles with gusto, despite not having really wanted to. srsly don’t hurt her. Do you want to fight a bear? Nobody wants to fight a bear.
Jericho has no real concept of home since it’s so fluid, and to him family is simply those of his kin - the demonic.
Roddy and Rabbit are similar to Jasper and Arthur - too similar, but they were each meant for different settings and now they’re in the same, which is awkward and means more work for me. But they are meant to be contrasts of the other yet sharing a lot of similarity too. Roddy and Rabbit are far more chaotic though. In theory each set would get along with the other great, but they probably hate each others’ guts because their goals and motivations and modus operandi are so vastly different. Which set of jerky demonic brothers will prevail! The reckless, chaotic redheads or brooding, calculating brunettes? Or, will I eventually just cut one set out entirely because it’s too redundant!
39: Would you say that they have a superiority-complex? Inferiority-complex? Neither?
Jasper and Arthur could lean either way. They think they’re better than you, but at the same time quietly grapple with irritating vestigial feelings of inferiority brought about by their mother and father. They are both supremely annoyed that it ever crops up in their mind at all.
Alice has a bit of an inferiority problem but not enough to call it a complex, since it’s solely the result of the trauma she experienced and her extreme fragility afterwards and as a result.
Jericho has the mother of all superiority complexes, but also a pretty nasty inferiority complex at the same time. That’s what happens when everyone thinks you’re a harmless kid and you know you could reduce them to a runny red pulp in 2 seconds. Fools!Roddy and Rabbit are obviously better than you and everybody else; It’s not a complex it’s just a basic fact. And Rabbit will fucking fight you if you try to claim otherwise. Or if you look at him funny.
40: How misanthropic are they?
Jasper: Somewhat, though it’s more in a resigned and amused parent watching a child make the same mistakes over and over kind of thing.
Arthur: Extremely. Aggressively.
Alice: Nah, not much at all.
Jericho: He flip-flops. He hates people, but he also finds them endlessly fascinating and entertaining.
Roddy: Not at all. People are great.
Rabbit: Pretty big misanthrope, though honestly so long as he gets his way and is generally left alone he doesn’t care.
46: If they were to fall in love, who (or what) is their ideal?
Jasper: Love is a difficult question for him. For one thing, he’s a Catholic priest, so he’s basically forbidden from romance. But on the other hand, he doesn’t give much of a fuck about that particular set of rules. But sex isn’t love. He’s not interested in love and romance. If he were to, though, it would probably be with a woman much stronger than the vulnerable, introverted girls he preys upon. He’d never truly respect her as an equal if she wasn’t strong enough to see through most of his bullshit and stand up to him mentally and emotionally. She’d have to be intelligent, witty, kinky and, because he’s also an elitist piece of shit when it comes to who he dallies with, slim and very attractive.
Arthur: His ideal probably secretly looks an awful lot like his brother. I’m just saying. No reason.
Alice: Her ideal also looks an awful lot like Arthur’s brother. :P But there’s more potential for variance with her. She wants to be taken care of, so she ideally would like someone tall and/or big who is a lot stronger and more confident than she is. She’s a fan of pretty eyes and long hair on boys. Of toned but not sculpted bodies. But looks aren’t the most important thing for her, just the ideal.
Jericho: Is effectively asexual. He’s stuck as a perpetual 14 year old so his potential dating pool is limited either to irritating children, or dirty, horrible adults who should absolutely not be pursuing children. He has no interest in indulging either. He has better things to do, like thinking and philosophising and learning new things and planning the downfall of civilisation. That sort of thing.
Roddy: Is in love with himself, obviously.
Rabbit: Thinks you should go to hell for poking around that subject with him. He’s really not a romance kinda guy. He might be capable of being snared by someone, who would almost certainly be female, but really he’d rather just drink, fuck and fight and not get tangled up in gross emotional chains.
47: How do they express love?
Jasper: By trying to keep his brother out of jail and several steps ahead of the law enforcement who don’t like it when you murder and eat people all the time.
Arthur: By loudly arguing or broodily glaring at them. Him. Let’s be honest there.
Alice: Proximity. She likes closeness so she’d like offering cuddles or petting or that kind of thing. She’d also be a gift-giver, the sort of person who quietly leaves flowers or small trinkets behind for them to find.
Jericho: He doesn’t.
Roddy: Suffocatingly. With fine, expensive gifts. By talking at them and not leaving them alone because they’re fantastic and he wants to spend his time with them. Taking care of all their needs, like making sure they’re fed good food and have lots of treats, making sure they look good and, you know, killing people they hate.
Rabbit: By punching things. And fighting things. And shouting at them when they’re about to or have done something he thinks is really stupid and might damage them. Things = other people.
Oh yeah, I fkn wrote all this shit out so like one or two people can read it. Take that. /flex
1. First impression: Who is this woman who gifts me with so many arty things and oh my god cosplays of my characters holy shit.2. Truth is: I can’t believe you’re not even out of high school yet. I don’t know why. You’re lovely and sweet and I really should email you more often but I never know what to say. I wish the language barrier wasn’t as much of an issue as it currently is but hopefully that will sort itself out over time!3. How old do you look: I’m not sure if I’ve seen a picture of you and known it was you.4. Have you ever made me laugh: Not outright, but you make me smile a lot.5. Have you ever made me mad: Nope!6. Best feature: You’re just so incredibly sweet and generous. You’ve gifted me with so much art and all these cosplay photos of my characters, and your genuine interest in them is such a wonderful feeling. You genuinely care and always send out positive messages and vibes. You’re so polite and you have some mad art skills for someone your age and I can’t wait to see what you can do in another 5 years. 7. Have I ever had a crush on you: Naw.8. You’re my: Lovely Russian darling. <39. Name in my phone: This question is tedious. XD10. Should you post this too? I guess, if you want to.
Probably I am not the first one who is asking about them, yet... Roddy and/or Rabbit (as OC)
And inevitably, Roddy ® and Rabbit (L), respectively - as they exist in my own storyverse, rather than as Lestranges in the HP ‘verse. One day I’ll figure out what kinda surname to give them but tonight is not that night!
Roddy—
What they smell like: Whatever perfume or cologne he’s wearing. Either flowery or perhaps spicy if he’s feeling particularly inclined, but he’s kind enough to the general populace that he keeps it very subtle. Thanks, Roddy. My sinuses thank you. At certain times, a faint scent of blood might be clinging to him. That’s probably a good sign that you’ve caught him just after he’s had some fun, and you are probably safe. On the other hand he might still be looking for more fun, so maybe not…
How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc): He’s another vampire, so he can run on very little sleep as well, though he does find a certain indulgent joy in lying around in bed and sleeping for hours. If the mood takes him. He’s a side-sleeper.
What music they enjoy: Goth rock, melodic/symphonic metal, darkwave, dark trance… the sort of staples you’ll hear in a goth club. Also, yes, classical… but in moderation, when he wants to relax and vegetate.
How much time they spend getting ready every morning: Too long. Even without the actual breakfast part, he’s vain as all hell, so he must fuss over his hair, fuss over his skin, fuss over his clothes and fuss over his makeup. And if he’s feeling particularly perfectionistic, he can spend aaages making sure the eye makeup is perfect and totally symmetrical. Everything must look perfect and he must always look gorgeous. You will not see him dead outside with frumpy pyjamas and slippers or tracky-daks.
Their favorite thing to collect: Jewellery of various kinds. Generally silver or steel. He’ll see an interesting design and he /must/ have it. It doesn’t matter that he already owns like 358 rings already, he needs to have this one too because look how unique and beautiful it is! Rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings (of certain kinds), finger claws, pendants… he probably couldn’t stop even if he wanted to. And he doesn’t. The same applies to clothing, but to a lesser extent. Since he’s obsessed with his appearance, he’s always on the look-out for beautiful clothes, dark things, old, victorian-style things, things with lots of buttons, expensive, well-shaped shoes, silk ties that have a really unusual pattern.
Left or right-handed: Right-handed.
Religion (if any): Raised Catholic, but really couldn’t care less in adulthood. Religion is a fun game to play with certain people, though, if it benefits him in some way to play along.
Favorite sport: Bloodsport.
Favorite touristy thing to do when traveling (museums, local food, sightseeing, etc): Anything that involves going out and fawning over beautiful things. Those might be statues or buildings or scenery. He is a fan of food too, so local delicacies are something he’s quite likely to gravitate to for the sake of having tried them. He will also sample the local people, sexually, and also the red stuff inside them.
Favorite kind of weather: The hotter it is, the less he gets to wear beautiful clothes and layers, and the more he’ll sweat and the more he’ll burn, so hot weather can fuck right off. It should be cool enough for him to be able to wear his shirt, waistcoat and tie and overcoat, but not so cold that he has to cover it all up in a big, thick, shape-killing coat. Under everyday circumstances he detests rain and snow, because those will mess up his hair and makeup and get his beautiful clothes wet and gross, but when he’s stalking and chasing people down, lost in predatory bloodlust, the weather means absolutely nothing to him.
A weird/obscure fear they have: Being completely alone terrifies him - he loves people too much. In so many different ways. He’s also irrationally terrified of becoming unattractive and undesirable. As a vampire (and later mutated to a demon) he’s going to age well (my vampires aren’t immortal or even long-lived), but the thought of being permanently disfigured, especially on his face, is enough to give him some serious anxiety. Which is silly since he’s powerful enough to regenerate a lot of that damage over a relatively short time in comparison to others, but the fear remains all the same he’s so vain.
The carnival/arcade game they always win without fail: Carnival games are so quaint, but if he has to go and has nothing better to do… perhaps the shooting gallery, or again, memory games and other card games. He might enjoy surprising people with the hammer and bell. He looks like he couldn’t possibly swing hard enough to get any lift on the weight, but his supernatural strength fixes that quite nicely. He’ll also play pool with his brother in pubs or clubs, where they can aggressively compete like losing a game will cause them to spontaneously combust.
Rabbit—
What they smell like: About the same as Roddy, though he will never go for any flowery scents. Flowers are for ladies, and also vain fops like his brother. He’ll stick to more spicy and traditionally masculine scents. And blood, that too. Just sometimes. If you’re lucky (you are not lucky).
How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc): He sleeps however he wants. Are you trying to tell him there should be some sort of routine to his sleep? Never. Another vampire (later demon), he doesn’t require much. When he does, he’ll sleep in whatever damn well position he likes, even if it means accidentally punting someone out of bed in his sleep and stealing all the covers and touching them with ice-cold feet. ‘Them’ being any sexy-times partner he may have invited home (or been invited into their home). Orwholivestherewithhimanywaywhoops.
What music they enjoy: See Roddy’s tastes above, though Rabbit has much less patience for classical. He’ll tolerate it and even potentially enjoy it if he must, but he prefers music that’s much more angry and much less romantic.
How much time they spend getting ready every morning: Not as long as Roddy. But he still dresses with more care than simply throwing things on, and he’s guilty of a bit of eye makeup too. He just doesn’t suffer from the same levels of ridiculous vanity as his brother, so has no need nor inclination to sit there forever making everything perfect. Including his beard and his hair. It’s kinda brushed and it’s kinda tied back. Close enough.
Their favorite thing to collect: He doesn’t especially /collect/ anything in particular. There are things he likes, and things he owns, but there’s no special item that he goes out of his way to hoard in large number. Video games might be the closest thing you’d get.
Left or right-handed: Right-handed.
Religion (if any): Religion is for the weak and needy.
Favorite sport: Bloodsport. He used to like chess until Roddy started beating him at it more than he liked.
Favorite touristy thing to do when traveling (museums, local food, sightseeing, etc): He’s not that fussed. Travelling is okay and all, and he’ll enjoy the local pubs but generally, he’ll be travelling with his brother, and therefore he’ll just go wherever Roddy decides he wants to go, even if he thinks it’s fucking stupid. Whatever Roddy does may be stupid, but not so stupid that he’ll let him just go without him and ignore him and leave him to be bored and grumpy in their accommodation.
Favorite kind of weather: Dreary and horrible. It makes little difference to him personally, but he likes to watch other peoples’ suffering in the street. Like women trying to run in the pouring rain in ill-advised stillettos, or wind blowing their skirts up, or people slipping on black ice and breaking their arm or face or ass. Or children tripping over and being buried in snow or being blown off a pier into a deep body of water. He’s a nice guy.
A weird/obscure fear they have: Losing his vain, idiotic brother, but other than that, he doesn’t much think about things he might fear as an adult. Whatever he might have feared as a child, those were childish fears he’s left behind and he has no particular irrational phobias or anxieties. He’s the monster waiting in the dark, after all - there are few people equipped to give him anything to be afraid of.
The carnival/arcade game they always win without fail: Unless playing in sideshow alley will win him points with a lady or enable him to make someone else look like an idiot or lesser creature, then he’s not going to play your shitty carnival games. He will play video games, however, and pool and pinball. And card games. And ‘pin the fangs on the victim’s butt’.
