December 7th - Bodaki - Snowmen
“Baki.”
“Bodil, don’t you dare.”
The dark-haired Bulgarian turned to the living snowman monster with a wide, shit-eating grin on his face. They were walking down the street at a calm, leisurely pace. And now they were passing the school, and…
“It’s a snowman, Baki!” Bodil cackled.
Baki rubbed at his non-existent temples with his wet little snow… hands? Paws? Nubs. He wasn’t even quite sure himself. Somehow, he was getting a headache. A snowman with a headache. Ha. Funny. Brain freeze.

Baki loved Bodil. Everyone knew that, he was too bad at hiding things. But, thankfully for his little frozen heart, the Bulgarian told him he liked him too, after he had blurted out yet another hint (unwillingly, really). The two made a great pair - they built maps together, they played maps together, and they had fun together. Everyone saw how good they were for each other. How Baki calmed Bodil down if the Bulgarian went a little too far with a prank, and how Bodil always made Baki do things he wouldn't otherwise even consider (but liked in the end). But, even with all these things, the two had never even kissed. Baki was too self-conscious about his own icy body. He was scared he'd frostbite Bodil, so every time the taller tried to kiss him, he'd come up with some kind of a - really bad, most of the time - excuse and run away. Just like today. They have just finished one of the maps Baki found and were sitting at the end and watching the fireworks that were going off in the distance. Bodil was telling a joke one minute and the next one he was pinning the snowman under himself. Their lips - and bodies - were far too close for Baki's comfort. It was weird. He craved Bodil, much more than he even realised consciously. But his mind was always plagued with thoughts of Bodil in pain due to the cold. So he did what his instincts told him to: he grasped the Bulgarian's shoulders and forced him off of himself before scrambling to his feet. "I- uh..." he stammered, cradling his hands close to himself as he looked left and right for some kind of an excuse. Bodil looked up at him from his spot on the grassy ground. "What's wrong?" he asked, propping himself up with one bent elbow and using the other to push himself up fully. "I just... I have to go," Baki said finally, dejectedly. His throat was squeezing and his chest felt heavy - just like every time. He turned to leave, his feet shuffling on the grass. Before he could get out of the map though, Bodil grasped his hand and pulled him back. He stood up quickly, Baki noted wordlessly. His head was hung and he refused to look up into Bodil's eyes. "Seriously, what's wrong?" Bodil asked him, his grip turning from keeping him in place to a gentle hold. "Every time I try to kiss you, you have 'to go away'," he muttered. His thick accent was laced with something Baki could only pinpoint as... Worry? That probably wasn't it, but that was about as close as he'd get. His body went slack, his shoulders falling. He must've looked as dejected as he felt, by the softness of Bodil's gaze. "I- um..." Baki looked away. "I just..." Goddammit, he couldn't even say it. It sounded really weird now, even to him - in his mind. God. Dammit. "I don't want you freezing, okay?!" There. He said it. He... said it. Wow. It sounded even more stupid out loud than it did in his head. Bodil burst out laughing, and Baki wanted nothing else than to disappear off the face of the Earth. The Bulgarian managed to catch his breath and he looked him dead in the eye, yet still suppressing snickers. "Is that it?" he asked. "Well... I mean- I- I just-" "Come here, you," Bodil cooed and dragged him back. Baki ended up squished against the other's chest. "Is that it?" "Yeah, I mean..." Baki cut himself off with a sigh. Bodil turned him around to face him and showed off one of his trademark smirks. "I like cold." And then their lips pressed against each other's. There were no fireworks, no sparks flying around like the stories liked to depict it. No, it much better than that. Bodil's lips were warm and smooth and fit onto his perfectly. They separated after a few blissful moments. Baki eyed Bodil's face. "Your lips are blue," he pointed out sadly. Bodil must've been freezing, just like he had thought. But instead of an answer, the Bulgarian had just pulled him closer and turned to watch the slowly dying fireworks still going off in the distance. He could feel the other's small, satisfied smirk against the back of his neck.
