One of MiPs upcoming guests is bodegamag's editor-in-chief Emily X.R. Pan. Poetry editors Lizzie Harris & Amy Meng appeared on an episode of latenightlibrary's Late Night Convo last year. So to hear some info on Bodega Mag here's some auditory pre-game.

CATCALL #48 I’m in the dairy aisle when the old man stumbles toward me. If an apple is falling, he asks, is the moon also falling? We are alone with the creams and cheeses. I pretend not to hear him. Listen, he says, something lives in the core of a bullet. Something moves there. Something hums. I fill my cart with yogurt. Something more than patience. Something like a snake. I search for packaged vegetables, and he stares at me as if he knows my name. I have to tell you, he whispers, the world is not what you want it to be. He gestures wildly at the frozen blueberries. Every moment another garden. His lined hands close around mine. His eyes are gray and cold, cold and gray. A moon in free-fall every hour of every day.

One whole year of BODEGA.

I am so incredibly lucky to be working with such an amazing team of editors on BODEGA. It's hard to believe that it's been almost a year since we launched the first issue.

It has continued to be such a pleasure to do stuff for this lit mag. I know I'm a workaholic, but every month when we're putting together the new content I get such a rush proofing what the editors have picked and looking at how the prose and poetry (and occasional interview) all fit and bounce off each other.

The best moments are when an issue comes together and it's so so so good I find myself jumping up and down and texting people to say "THIS IS THE BEST ISSUE EVER" yet again.

I am SO THRILLED with our birthday issue, and it makes me a little sad that I timed my vacation so poorly and will be internet-less when it launches on Monday.

So I guess the point of this is to say: be on the lookout for Issue 13. It's a really great one. And come to our birthday party! For me it's doubling as my own birthday celebration: bodegamag.com/party
