Now I don't know who Carol Blood is or what she stands for, but there is a fucking stupid argument being shoved in our faces about trans procedures and the like, and what's even fucking stupider is that the same people peddling that dumbass narrative don't realize that it contradicts their scientifically and morally vacuous pro-circumcision stances.

Also a reminder that infant circumcision is anti-trans because it removes ~15 square inches of skin that can be used for gender-affirming care in the future.

Anyway, what I wanted to mention is that being anti-circumcision (at least against the extent that it's practiced now, especially since there's so much medical misinformation spread around about it that basically means that very few people, even adults, can actually consent to the procedure) is NOT anti-trans.

Not only are the purposes of the procedures different, but the ability to consent to each procedure is drastically different (due to 1) better information being promulgated about gender-affirming care, 2) higher standard age for people undergoing the care, and 3) many many many MANY meetings before deciding that the care is required/will suffice).

Being anti-circumcision is pro-bodily integrity and pro-informed medical consent. Nothing more. If there's any community extremely supportive of bodily integrity, it's the non-gender-conforming community; we're in this together.
