Jamie doesn’t stay home from work. She’d rather continue to work while sick. Jamie’s behavior is familiar to Jack Crawford and Will Graham. They will not permit her to keep working when she is ill. Will knows Jamie won’t go home. He calls Hannibal to take Jamie home. He’s not surprised that the psychiatrist suggests taking Jamie to his home instead. Jack and Will recognize Hannibal’s assertion that Jamie won’t rest while home alone.

Hannibal, Jack, and Will walk into Jamie’s office. It’s clear to all three how unwell she is. As expected, she argues she’s fine. Hannibal is calm as he persuades Jamie to go home with him. He’s prepared to use force if he has to. Z “You don’t have a choice,” he points out. Jamie knows he’s right. Jack and Will could pull her away from her work. She is forced to go home.

Hannibal can see Jamie’s walls crumble. He’s concerned about how ill Jamie appears, watching her struggle to keep her eyes open.

Jamie is asleep by the time Hannibal pulls into the driveway. Hannibal doesn’t wake her up. Having carried the smaller woman a few times already. He is careful as he picks Jamie up, closes the car door, and carries her into the house.

Hannibal goes upstairs to a bedroom that has always been Jamie’s when she stays at the house.

He lays Jamie in the bed, covering her with the blankets. Hannibal is concerned that Jamie is neglecting her health because she went to work with a 102-degree fever. After informing Will, Hannibal places a cooling cloth on Jamie’s forehead. He opts not to wake Jamie to give her medicine. “Why do you do this?” Hannibal sighs. Hannibal prefers refined dishes, but he knows Jamie is not accustomed to them. He wants her to eat, so he plans on making her favorite soup. With a frustrated sigh, Hannibal goes downstairs to the kitchen to cook.

Jamie wakes up, freezing under the blankets. She feels too weak to sit up. “I thought so.” Hannibal puts the bowl of soup on the nightstand. He sat Jamie up and props pillows behind her. Hannibal worries about how unwell she is. “You need to stop ignoring being sick.” Hannibal gives Jamie the bowl of soup and sits on the edge of the bed. “You know I prefer refined dishes, but you remind me to enjoy quaint dishes. The soup is delicious.” He watches Jamie eat the chicken noodle soup. Ensuring she eats most of it before he goes to retrieve medicine. Once Jamie takes the medicine, Hannibal lays her in bed and sits on the edge of the bed. “Are you my bodyguard or something?” “Is that what you consider someone who takes care of you?” “Would you rather be called a babysitter?” “How about a worried friend? You know you’re supposed to be resting when sick.” Hannibal smiles as the medicine takes effect, and Jamie struggles to stay awake. It’s not long before she’s asleep. Hannibal sighed, resigned to Jamie’s unyielding nature.

After having Jamie rest in bed most of the next morning, Hannibal takes her outside. He sits on a chair under a tree, with Jamie on his lap. “Being outside will be good for you.” Hannibal expects Jamie’s stubbornness during her recovery and beyond, a trait he’s accustomed to.

twisted games

okay this book was everything for me. It's been stuck in my head ever since i finished it. I read this in one day and i literally didn't sleep the whole night and only went to sleep after sunrise once i finished the book. Usually I never read forbidden romance trope cuz i'm rlly not into it. But I gave this a go and I've not been disappointed. Rhys Larsen is the standard and I won't go for anything under that. After finished it I immediately ordered twisted lies.

"I'm not leaving you. If you're in Eldorra, I'm in Eldorra. If you're in Antarctica, the Sahara, or the middle of the fucking ocean, I'm there. I'm just as much as yours as you are mine, princess, and a law isn't keeping me away. I don't care what a piece of paper says. I'll burn down the entire fucking Parliament if I have to"
