Hygiene & Disciplinary Body Practices
As discussed in class, waaay back when, most of us have hygiene and disciplinary body practices. Hygiene is defined as conditions or practices that maintain and prevent the spread of disease. Disciplinary body practices are routines, rules and practices that maintain the body.
Now that the technical terms are defined, I shall continue with my point: Women spend so much more money and time on hygiene and disciplinary body practices than men ever will !
(So with a little research and some prices from Wal-Mart & other sources, I conclude...)
Women Hygiene & Disciplinary Body Practices Include:
Maintaining their monthly menstrual cycle by buying tampons & pads : $10
Keep everything smelling "all fresh" down there with feminine wipes, gels , douches and wash products: $ 5- 30
Keeping those armpits, legs and bikini lines hair & bump free as well as smooth by shaving and waxing products: $ 3-10
Applying all the makeup and beauty tools : eyeliner, concealer, foundation, blemish, mascara, eye-shadow, lipstick, blush, finger nail polish and so on... : $ 5 - 80
Maintaining hair
with the use of multiple hair products such as shampoo, conditioner, detangler, hair color dye, rinses and/or purchasing wigs, extensions, clips ins, sew ins, and regular visits to the salon : $65-200
Maintaining those nails and toes by purchasing finger nail polish and remover or visiting the nail shop: $5-$40
Just to name a few but there are more. Men typically just brush their teeth, shower, shave, slap on some deodorant occasionally get a hair cut and call it a day.
So why do women spend so much time on these body practices?
To conform to the image of how a "woman" should look, that's why.
