Be Safe!
Safe The Oxford dictionary defines safe as: Protected from or not exposed to danger or risk; not likely to be harmed or lost.
Safe is a word that I immediately relate to life, and to the health of the human body.
For this reason, for the composition of the image dedicated to the word "Safe" I have included three main elements that narrate a fact.
The first object that I present is the open plastic that covers a condom, my intention is to denote that the condom has been used. In some places, for example, in the United States, the word "Safe" is used to describe the condom. Also, the main idea of using a condom is to protect the body from sexually transmitted diseases, in addition to avoiding unwanted pregnancies. With this definition, the image I have composed indicates that those who used the condom are safe, and intrinsically, the life that was not born, is also safe.
On the other hand, the corks from the wine bottles help to tell the story that two people were drinking before the sexual act. Explaining that people were not fully conscious during the erotic encounter.
The third element in the composition of the image is the colour blue. According to experts in web design and visual communication, blue is related to security. Jerry Cao in his article: 12 colours and the emotions they evoke, describe “Blue is the colour of calm and serenity, and as such inspires security and a feeling of safety”.
Considering the potential of the blue in the visual context, I added this colour through the table that appears as the background of the image. Other options of this photograph (IMAGE 2), was the complete image of a condom that has been used, however, less information empowers the main message and sends the information to the audience directly.
