Tribute to Gustavo Cerati
Album: Fuerza Natural.
Fuerza Natural, (Spanish for Natural Strength) is the latest album by Argentine artist Gustavo Cerati. For this typography design I have been influenced by what the lyrics of the song transmit me.
This musical album mentions the idea that all human beings are connected by a cosmic energy, a natural energy that comes from the universe, and also expresses the idea that we can change realities with thought.
For this reason, in the design I have used pink, blue, purple and indigo colors, which according to experts in metaphysics, those colors connect with the universe. The background color of the poster is a strong pink, which represents unconditional love, and balance between spiritual and material.
The first important decision using typography was to join the sentence "Fuerza Natural" through an imaginary square created with the letter "F" at the beginning of the sentence and the letter "L" in opposite position at the end of the sentence.
The union of these two words create the perfect framework to give life to the idea of the union between people, proposed by the author of the album.
On the other hand, understanding that pop rock and indie rock are the genre that predominates in this musical album, my intention was to make a strong contrast with the colors pink and green, and texture for the background of the poster.
In addition, the typography used to mention the place and time, I selected because it denotes the rebellion in this type of rock music.
I placed a triangle crossed with a line at the top as the letter “A” for “Fuerza” and “Natural”, due to it is the way to represent the wind element in the alchemist symbology.
Representing the air through typography has been one of my goals achieved in this project, as well as being able to show an element that conceptually keep the idea I wanted to represent.
The green color inside the main text represents my idea about nature. Also, the distorted triangles in the middle of the poster with blue and purple colors, have the intention of representing the intuition.
I have drawn with the ellipse tool, distorted circles to simulate a black hole and continue with the intention of representing "the changes of realities" that describe the lyrics of the songs.
My intention has been to keep the poster with a simple and strong design structure through geometrical figures, simple typography, contrast of colors and recognized symbols.
