Welcome~
As-salaam Alaikum brothers and sisters. I have finally designed the blog I’ve been brainstorming and thinking about for weeks. I wanted to give a short introduction of who I am and what we can look forward to in the future with “The Boho Hijabi”. I will be going by my decided Muslim name of Isra (I also plan to make a post about this in the future!). I wanted to create a blog to write about the things I hold passion for. The main thing being Islam and practicing as a Muslim. I want to provide resources for those who have also recently converted, like me, and want to learn more. Or even born Muslims that would like to improve themselves.
As a sort of intro about me, I’d like to begin by saying I converted in late August of 2019. I’m from the Midwestern USA- specifically Illinois, and I’m a 21-year-old university student. I live with non-Muslims as my family is Christian, which can be a struggle sometimes, but I know things could be worse. There is no Masjid within 45 minutes of my home so often it is hard to meet other Muslims. I rely a lot on the internet for meeting others and support and I know I can’t be the only convert doing so, this is why I started my blog. I don’t want any convert to feel alone or have to struggle alone like I have in the past, but my blog is not only limited to converts- I invite everyone within the community as well as outside to come read, listen, watch what I put up and contribute thoughts and feedback.
There are a lot of ideas I have for the direction I want to take this blog in but the thing I’m most excited about is my upcoming posts on Ramadan. Since I have created the blog less than a month before Ramadan starts, I wanted to share some things and help others with inspiration and preparation for this year, as well as hopefully keep those that read my posts inspired throughout Ramadan as we all know it will be a tough one for most of us. I will also be releasing a miniseries of posts titled “What I Wish I Knew” detailing everything I wish I would have learned about Islam sooner- either before converting or after. I have so many Ideas I would love to share with you so I hope you check back in soon!~
