I bring to you... Boifs!

Alright so, I made a thingy. I call them boifs. They’re a species created through genetic engineering. Have some komodo dragon and clouded monitor mixed together, and then increase their size and muscle mass. And some skittles food coloring for luck and that’s basically what creates them.

Anywho, from those first boifs, something kinda went haywire with security and killed all the males in the facility. Over time, boifs managed to reproduce and increase their population and adapt to different things. There was also a epidemic going on during the time and these big lizards were supposed to “hold the cure” but that backfired. So this epidemic kills a huge amount of the human population, globally. The boifs in a way were immune to it, they got sick, but they recovered quickly and spread in small groups of five around the world, and multiplied on different areas of the world. After a several years, like quite a few generations of boifs later, the human population was basically descimated. So basically now the world has no top predator, so boifs took over that spot.

Remains of human civilization is basically left in shambles and taken over by plants. Boifs live globally, and adapt fairly quickly to different environments. However, since they’re reptiles, they have difficulty regulating body temperature on their own.

Now! Onto appearances! They’re 11 feet tall, males and females alike. Females are a little more bulkier. The males a little lankier, they’re better built for speed, to chase down prey, while females tackle prey to the ground. They can be an array of colors, but the color has nothing to do with their genders, it usually depends on the temperature of the nests (which are similar to crocodiles), and also where in the world they are. Most common colors are shades of orange, blue and grey. They have 5 fingers on their “hands” and 4 on their “feet”. Their tails are broad on the end, kinda like a paddle. Good for swimming. They have spines on their backs, the longer spines indicate that it’s a male. Their teeth are like if you mixed moray eel teeth with that if monitor lizard.

Onto behaviors!! They live in packs, usually up to 15. The males and females alike take care of the juveniles until they’re about 7 years of age, when they start getting them to become more independent and wean them off of partially digested meat and “milk” (look up pigeon milk). Their diets are mostly carnivorous, but they’ll eat just about anything when their main food sources are unavailable. They compete mostly with other large carnivores, and on occasion those few surviving humans. The babies are solid in coloration, they don’t start getting their patterns until the age of 4. By the time they’re 10 is when they have their full pattern on their body. Babies play fight amongst each other a lot, imitating their parents or other adults that are in actual fights. Boifs around the age of 17 to 23 are the most aggressive because they’re trying to assert their dominance and rank in the pack, having to fight their way up. Some will separate and either join another pack or make their own. Okay, that’s all I have on boifs. Feels free to ask anything I haven’t mentioned here. I don’t bite. They prolly will though.
