I’m really curious about your writing process — you’ve built such a rich, complex world with layered characters and a compelling plot. How much of the story have you written ahead of time, and is everything already mapped out?
Every chapter is such a treat to read. Can’t wait for more!
That is so incredibly kind of you to say, thank you so much! I'm thrilled anyone is interested in my little self-indulgent murder mystery.
Bold World is actually a bit of a departure for me - I used to be scared of writing plotty fics because I would always get stuck on something in the plot and give up in the middle of writing. But this one, I had been wanting to write for... probably about seven years now at this point? My original idea was just "Greengrass sisters but with More Sisters" and at some point it turned into "Astoria has to solve a murder that exposes a lot of the rot in pureblood society" and then things just kept getting added until I had all these subplots in it.
But I was still scared of actually writing and plotting it, so I basically had to force myself to sit down and write out a comprehensive outline. Definitely couldn't have done it without @aebbeswriting and @goldcranes' help either. Essentially I mapped out what I need in every chapter (reveals, buildup, etc) ahead of time before I started actually writing. And it changes of course as I add in more subplots and little things or certain scenes don't do what I needed them to do for the plot etc.
So yeah basically I have an entire 5k google doc of just planning, backstory notes, a comprehensive outline, etc. It's very intense. And I try to write about 10 chapters ahead although I've fallen behind and I haven't finished ch32 yet... hopefully soon though!
Sorry that was probably way more info than you needed but thank you for asking regardless!
