DPIFF Breaks Silence: Stands Tall Against False Allegations, Reaffirms Its Unshakable Commitment to Indian Cinema
Mumbai, India – In the face of recent controversy, the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) has issued a powerful statement, calling out false and malicious allegations targeting its leadership and legacy.
In the weeks leading up to what was meant to be a grand celebration of cinematic brilliance on 20th February 2025 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai, the DPIFF team found itself at the center of a disturbing extortion attempt. When the demands were firmly rejected, a calculated smear campaign was launched — aiming to defame Managing Director Mr. Anil Mishra and CEO Mr. Abhishek Mishra with baseless accusations.
The situation raised serious security concerns for organisers, guests, and industry participants, ultimately forcing the postponement of the event. Legal teams swiftly took action, and the matter is now under judicial review, with formal clearances currently in process at the Bandra Police Station.
