A starter for @bombs-awayx
It had been years since Izuku Midoriya had last seen the one person he could have called his best friend.
Not that they’d ever been anything close, he realized further into age. If anything the other by had been a bully, whether intentional or not. For years he had followed the blond like a duckling, clinging to every word and treating him as though he were everything a potential hero was suppose to be.
In his eyes, Katsuki had been.
The boy always seemed to be yards ahead of him, closer to their dream than Izuku could ever be. To be a hero, it’s what they’d both wanted from the time they could walk.
A misguided belief had been what compelled Izuku, naive to the fact that the world didn’t want a quirkless hero. Not all men were born equally, and he finally understood that with perfect clarity.
He was not wanted as a hero.
He was not wanted.
Thinking back he could find it almost bittersweet, how the one man he’d idolized more than anyone else had also been the one to confirm his speculations. There was no use for someone like Izuku in society, and especially not in U.A.
A quirk was everything in their society and Katsuki Bakugou had been blessed with one that would take him as far as he wanted.
Which was what made it so intriguing to find the other man in this bar, years after their last meeting. It was a common haunt for those on the more criminal side of the law, and the other boy seemed to be fitting in rather well.
Curious and curiouser, green eyes examined him.
True, Midoriya had been off the map for a couple years now as he went about his own objective but from what he’d last heard his childhood friend had been successful with his entrance into the hero course.
What had changed?
Always one to dig deeper the brunette approached, eyes cautious as he walked behind the man before taking his place on the neighboring stool. He hooks a finger into the top of the mask that covers the bottom half of his face, pulling it down to hang limply at his neck as he speaks.
“Kacchan- what a coincidence.”
