Bondings

Ok, today we’ll be focusing on bonding. There are several types, ranging from a being bondmates to simple family ties. We’ll start with the family bondings. Before we progress too far let me offer a disclaimer. I am in no way implying that you should go fuck your family members, looking at you Bubbajoe. These are giant metal aliens, not humans. With that out of the way we can get onto the topic at hand. Now a quick run down of a bond. When two or more mechs/femmes merge sparks they can opt to exchange bits and pieces with each other, they form a bond. Now with that they can leave the connection subtle or they can deepen it enough that they can experience what ever their partner is. In Sparklings and Younglings the bond is usually pretty deep in order to keep track of them so their creators know if there is any danger or if they're sick. It can be regulated from either side but most young ones aren't so easily able to access it and are not usually inclined to since they like feeling their creators. Family bondings are essential to not only keeping good ties but also to the health of younger mechs/femmes. Interfacing is a major part of the bonding, as well as sparkmerging. Interfacing in families is quite common unless they don’t have a health social structure. That is rather rare though and in which case the family usually dissolves since they don’t get along well. Outside of that, most families keep good bonds by giving pleasure and sparkmerging. The exchange helps to work out any issues there might be and reassure that each member is loved. With Sparklings and Younglings bondings are very important, not just to assure them of their creators love for them, but also to help regulate their spark. The change in fluctuation keeps it from getting too steady. Now you might think that having a steady spark is a good thing, and in some cases you’d be right. In young ones that is not the case though because a steady spark does not have to work to keep its resonance. When it does not have to keep changing it, it begins to weaken. Much like humans who do not walk will being to lose muscle. Think of their spark as a muscle that needs to get stronger. Each time they merge with someone it changes the resonance and it has to work to revert back to its own. This must be kept in the family until they are strong though, even though the change is essential to keeping them online, too big of one would completely alter their spark at best. At worse it would destabilize it and they would go offline. Sparklings base their spark cadence off their creators, it’s a sort of middle ground caught right better the two resonances so they can accept change easily from either. Once their spark is strong enough, which varies for each, they can begin to merge with others, siblings for example or caregivers. Young ones aren’t usually left out of the family until they’re at least 400 vorns old. At that point even the slowest to develop are able to handle merging outside the family. Interfaces are still monitored closely though to ensure no one gets too rough, assuming that the partner is also young. Being that age they still have quite a big of energy and can become a little too enthusiastic, in which case the creators will step in. In trine base coding families such as Seekers and Praxians, often times the trine will consist of at least one sibling if there is one. A trine bond is similar to being bondmates. There are a few differences but they mostly relate to coding. One big one is the drive to form a trine, when a mech/femme has this code they will be driven to find two mates. These connections aren’t formed out of love, they are formed out of need. That being said, I’m not at all implying that members of a trine don’t love each other, only that when it’s formed it isn’t out of love. That will form on its own later on in most cases. In the few cases it doesn’t that member will begin to search for another trine mate. They will stay in their current trine until is found at which time they will be relinquished and reform bonds with the new one. There are courtships for each but that will be addressed in a later update. Non code driven bondings are most often formed from love and aren't as readily given up as with young Seekers or Praxians. Their trine coding has much less to do with this than the age of the mech/femme in these cases though. There are very few that decide to bond so early when not code driven to do so. Bonds in older mechs/femmes tend to last longer than in younger bots and are stronger since they will be willing to put more work into keeping it. Much like us the younger bots are more impulsive. Once a bond has been formed, relinquishing it can be very traumatic for either party and is often done only under the supervision of a medic since it can cause immense pain durning the process. The bond grants access to each others spark and if one side rejects the bond the other will suffer greatly, sometimes even going offline if not properly taken care of. When under the supervision of a medic both sides will have their pain receptors turned off and they will be monitored very closely to ensure their spark doesn't have any adverse reactions. If everything goes smoothly then they will be released after a few groons. If not they are kept until their spark regains its normal cadence. In most cases several sparkmerges will fix them up. Most bring a friend or family member in case this is needed but if no one else is able then the medic on duty will step in to assist. It's not uncommon for their spark to form a temporary bond, and if that happens they will remain with the merger for as long as it takes to relinquish that bond without adverse reactions.
