Bone Altar - esuthio
I had plans for Halloween. Intentions.
I'm starting to think that perhaps I should save my energy for a book, rather than actual interactions. But, I can continue in my own small, though perhaps more potent ways-- the fire involved is just a little more discreet.
Each year for Halloween, I've put together a bone altar. My intentions and ideas about ancestor worship are on a more taxonomic scale than many, and as a result, much of my work at Halloween is less about familial loss, and more about my relationship with community and nature.
So, each year I put together that bone altar. Last year was the first time that I shared it with others. This year, I'm in a situation where I can have it up indefinitely, and actually set it up much earlier in the year. I even have some Foster bones to work with this time.
And so, I've had my largely private workings with the Consumed Dead. I'm doing my best to healthily mourn the things that have died, and, the things that despite my best efforts are in the process of dying. In these ways, in my attempts to best exist in life, I am able to honor the Dead in ways that go beyond a marker or a shrine.

I sat for quite a bit of time…

Wednesday is more commonly rehearsal night and tonight we put the finishing touches to our rendition of the Nirvana track for this weekend's Frenzy Vs Nirvana all dayer, at the King Billy. More importantly though, we have two burgeoning tracks bubbling away, soon to be added to our live set (hopefully)
