My doc found old x-rays, and I’m making it your problem
Wanna see a really weird x-ray? I had a bone cyst in my right arm when I was a kid (which isn’t all that unusual; lots of kids have them, and they’re usually just those little bubbles that disappear on their own), and it kind of got out of hand...
Bones are really meant to be shaped like a slim tube. They are decidedly not meant to be shaped like that balloon on the left.
One x-ray is from 1988, the other from 1997. (And don’t let the background confuse you. I hung them on the window for more light.) If you look really closely, you can see that the left one is broken. Which is why they discovered the cyst in the first place... It took three surgeries, but the arm healed alright; it’s just two centimetres shorter than the left one and still has that little crook in it. It’s also still a bit thicker than a bone should be.
I tried to research bone cysts at one point, but I never found another one that big.
So. Anyone else have a weird medical history?
I broke my arm 3 months ago when i fell off my horse
My horse reared up and then proceeded to buck me off, though we first thought he was having an attitude problem i took him to the vet and found out he has; Colonitis, Several stomach ulcers (One of which is bleeding), and a bone cyst in left hind leg. Hopefully he gets to feeling better soon
Bone Cyst in the Pedal Bone
A large cyst in the pedal bone (the distal phalanx) can cause longterm lameness that may be severe and unresponsive to anti-inflammatory medication. This uncommon condition, caused by trauma, may be seen in any foot but more often affects a hindfoot. The diagnosis may be confirmed by your veterinarian through the use of regional analgesia and x-rays. Progressive weakening of the pedal bone can lead to a secondary fracture. Because of the cyst's location and size, surgery is not always successful. However, some horses do return to performance status, while others may be used for less strenuous activity such as breeding.
Cancer.
My bone cyst can never grow back! Yes! Not another trip to the Oncology Centre till I'm 16!
Surgery Fun Times!
So I went to an orthopedist and he said that my bone cyst needed surgery so I'm gonna go get that done on the 16th... of this month.
What a fun spring break this'll be.
They're going to put a rod in my bone and then I'll be in the hospital for a couple days on an epidural. Then crutches for a bit until I feel up to walking again.
I was really close to cutting again last night but then thought about what the surgeon would do. Probably put me in the psych ward or something. Put me under watch. Ew. I don't want or need that. Just... no. I'm already freaking out about them seeing my scars.
Welp. Wish me luck.
