it’s incredible to think about how interdependent and perfectly balanced things are. There are organisms at the bottom of the ocean that specifically evolved to feed on whale carcasses that wouldn’t exist if whales had not left the land to return to the sea. Certainly other marine life dies and ends up on the ocean floor, but none so life sustaining as a whale fall.
