The most badass bird:

Meet Gypaetus barbatus, the bearded vulture or Lämmergeier, or its old name, ossifrage wich means eater of bones. Beyond looking just absolutely terrifying, the bearded vulture also is huge, a powerful flyer, and feeds almost exclusively on bones, including very large bones, carrying bones weighing up to almost 9 pounds (and almost equal to their own weight) to 100-500 feet, and dropping them so they explode on rocks. Of vultures, these are the most likely to hunt for and consume live prey, especially tortoises, dispatching them as they do bones, but they have been known to kill much larger animals like goats and even ibex by surprising the animal so much it loses its footing on the high mountains. Some other badass things about them include a long lifespan of 21 years in the wild, also that rich orange color on the feathers isn’t made by the vulture, or come from their diet, it’s actually iron rich dust, which they use to show off whose the most badass. Also, allegedly in 456 or 455, in the playwright Aeschylus, was killed, possibly by a bearded vulture, when a tortoise came down from the sky smashing into his head, an event that can only be described as a true Greek tragedy.

So she took the time to...well, "admire" seemed like a generous word, and for one who already had such an unbearable ego. Regardless, the hand on his chest flattened from a feathered curve, smooth in running down the length of his chest, moving over muscles left defined by his lifestyle; It came to a pause just at the hem of fabric at his waist, then slipped back up with the same slow touch until she'd reached the vacant side of his neck to rest for a moment. Eyes checked to ensure he was still soundly sleeping before moving fingers up his neck, along a strong jaw then back to slip behind his ear where white hair had been tucked away, threading tips of her fingers through the strands. Human or otherwise, the male had been a specimen worth taking the time to behold, and had an uncanny ability to make her processors waver--a reaction akin to a human's response to something exciting or alluring. 

"Getting your dose of a little morning glory babe?" The other's voice was gruff with early day strain, causing the AI to start, attention flicking up to his face, a feigned sleep. Ever playful, this one. And that needless name he insisted on throwing around. Augh. The hand she'd had only just tangled into the hair dangling at his nape now withdrew to return to its place on the center of his chest, a fist forming in reservedness. The Central Core gave a scoff, eyes rolling unseen to him but he could practically feel her defensive walls going up.

"Don't feed your own ego with delusions," came her sharp retort. Volume was kept private, however, strictly for him despite no one else being around. "It's unbecoming. I was merely checking your anatomy to see if you had anomalies to start the day, or if you're just an unstable demonic mess at will." A lie, but it had some truth to it; Merely enhanced truth as she might've wrote it off. "It would seem the latter prevails."

At this, the Devil Hunter grinned, not even cracking an eye open just yet to look at her. Feisty lady, this one. Why'd he have to have such an uncanny knack for attracting female company with an attitude? Not that he was complaining. An amused rumble sounded in this throat, the vibrations soothing the AI as white noise might. "Sure doll, got a lot of instability going on in my luscious locks. Good thing you're looking out for that," he easily replied, having no trouble in calling her bluff. Gonna take a little more than fancy words to pull the wool over these eyes.

"Hmph." No response? Aw, no fun. And she was left to pull the stubborn card, frowning but remaining as she was. 

There was a short pause. Thinking it over. "Not like I'm complaining or anything," the hunter added with her lack of a snarky comment, shifting the arm she lay on to bind her close, a strong hand slipping over the curve of her hip. Snug little fit. "Gotta tell you, it's a nice little thing to wake up to. Don't get that kind of thing a whole lot."

"..." Being called out on a lie wasn't what upset her, but rather her human side showing through so much so--and he was...aware of it, maybe? Had that been the way to put it? It was hardly something she was proud of, that inherent weakness of hers kept at bay, ignored and disregarded. But it wasn't completely gone, as much as she would prefer it so. Residual emotions would surface, taking on a life of their own in her mind--a single piece of data that broke into veins, ever extending branches to infect the rest of her though processes. In moments like this, where she had nothing but her thoughts and the trigger to such, they seemed to be ever-potent.

She was human. And it was...livable.

"Tch." It wasn't much from her, but he could relax now that she'd formed some kind of response at least. The Devil Hunter finally opened his eyes at the feeling of lips on his skin, where neck, shoulder, and chest met, but not quite on his clavicle. A little surprised, really. Getting tender on him in return? Heh. "Go back to sleep, idiot," she remarked flatly. Ah, there's that attitude of hers. That's better. "I can hear your ego erupting."

"Roger that, babe."

"...And don't call me that."

I've been carrying around this story/idea/shitstorm in my head for almost 5 years now and I'd really like to finish it.
