God this man is so complicated to try to figure out
He’s so humble but so cocky
You’ll get mad at him and he’ll just laugh cause
“Aw, did I make you upset, Y/N?”
He’ll tease you about every little thing you do
God forbid you do something stupid, like get a paper cut or slam the car door on your finger
“Wow Y/N, I knew you were clumsy but come on, isn’t this a little bit too much now?”
ALL WITH A SMIRK ON HIS FACE
Quick scenario:
Of all the days the printer could break down, it had to be today. You needed to print out some reports for a case that Booth had asked you to help him on. But the printer was seriously out to get you. “What’s wrong, Y/N?” Great, first the printer, now Aubrey. “Ah, nothing really.” Maybe he would leave if you shut down any attempts at a conversation. “Come now Y/N, I know you better than that. Taking your frustration out on a printer? If you wanted to take out some anger, you could always come to me.” You didn’t have to look at him to know that he was giving you that sickeningly sweet smile. The one that had hidden intentions behind it. “Thanks Aubrey, I’ll keep that in mind if I ever feel like beating the shit out of someone.” There, that should shut him up.
He’s such a menace but don’t forget that he genuinely cares about you
If you ever got injured, he’d be the first person to check up on you
BUT HE’S STILL A MENACE
Be a little bit tsundere with him and he’ll love it
You punched him once out of pure irritation and now he blasts Criminal (Britney Spears) because you “assaulted an FBI agent”
[So I’ve been meaning to write Lara’s relationship page for weeks now, but I always seem to procrastinate myself away from it. Either way I’ve been doing a bit of tidying up of Lara’s blog recently and so I thought I would explain two new tags I’m starting to use here in case it takes me even longer to get that relationships page written.
Anyone who’s followed this blog for a while knows my three OTPs for Lara, being Lara/Eilidh (Eilara), Lara/Wes (Wera) and Lara/Riley (more specifically simonfuckingriley‘s portrayal). Due to its beautiful if bittersweet nature, Eilara fits around any other relationship Lara might end up in, but alas Wera and Lara/Riley don’t really work in the same verse. I love both of the pairings equally and for entirely different reasons.
I love Lara/Riley because I’ve been writing this pairing for approaching five years now in the fanfiction from where Lara and most of my OCs originate (Caught in the System) and its been one of my favourite pairings for nearly as long. I love Wera because it came so totally out of the blue and is completely born out of chemistry between RP characters. Liz and I started writing Wes and Lara as friends and colleagues and the rest they say is history. As for Lara/Riley, me and Riley’s mun have been musing and writing together for nearly as long as the pairing has existed and have very similar portrayals of Riley himself. In short I love writing both dynamics with two muns I adore.
To make it a bit more organised tag wise, I’ll be tagging all future (and past when I can be arsed) Wera posts as “otp: made for you” whereas all Lara/Riley posts will be tagged “otp: me and the devil”. All Lara/Eilidh posts will stay as Eilara because I love the ship name :P.
In short, Sass is a shameless multishipper and you are all wonderful human beings for putting up with me and Lara.<333].
[Eilidh has a very hard time focusing when Lara wears pretty dresses. She doesn't bother to hide how gobsmacked she is, either, because she knows Lara has ridiculous self esteem issues and wants to make sure she knows exactly how impossible it is for Eilidh to keep her hands off of her.]
[Lara would be blushing like an idiot at first, because she feels so out of her comfort zone and these dresses don’t hide as many sins as her baggy shirts do. But then she breathes, remembers that Eilidh has seen her naked and there really is nothing to be embarrassed about. When she relaxes, she finds herself enjoying all the attention. Even better, she actually feels it, she feels pretty and beautiful and feminine. It doesn’t matter that the heels make her tower above Eilidh when they walk hand in hand with each other, doesn’t matter that some guys in town give her interested looks. Because right then and there she feels wonderful and it feels like nothing is going to get rid of that feeling.
As for Eilidh not being able to keep her hands off of her, that’s something that Lara certainly gets used to too. ;)]
“If you started dating someone else, would you stop sleeping with...”
[This breaks Eilidh's heart. She wouldn't be upset *at* Lara, of course, but she would be very sad to lose that part of their relationship. She really just wants Lara to be happy and appreciated, though. Also she's a huge wera shipper, so :-p]
[This breaks my heart too, and to be honest, ending things between them would break Lara’s heart too. She knows there’s no other way; if she does find herself in a relationship she wants to feel like she’s giving everything she has to that one person, but Eilidh means so much to Lara. In fact I think it is safe to say that Lara wouldn’t be able to even consider another relationship if she hadn’t had this experience with Eilidh. As she’s always said, Lara likes the woman she’s become now, and a lot of that new confidence comes from Eilidh, and not just from their relationship, but also just from seeing how Eilidh is and her attitude to life and being inspired by it. So she has a lot to thank her for really.
But I do feel a lot better about these two stopping what they are doing because their physical relationship has run its course, rather than because Lara can’t handle sharing Eilidh anymore. It feels much more natural and less painful that way.
As for the Wera shipping, I’m with Eilidh in that regard. I love all her gentle encouragement. And hell, it’s likely that Wes has noticed Lara’s increase in confidence too. ;)]
In which Lara is forced to answer all the questions she's been trying to avoid and Chris tries to worm his way into a threesome.
Lara trusted Chris implicitly. How could she not? She trusted him with her life, hell, her first ever mission with the 141 had seen her caught in enemy fire with only him and Archer keeping her alive. Aside from that, Lara trusted Chris with everything else. He was one of her closest friends, almost a little brother of sorts. He was kind, honest and intelligent and unlike Lara he posessed a near impeccable fashion sense to boot. There were few negatives to having Chris in her life.
One thing she didn't trust however was that one, very distinctive smile he had. A smile that just screamed 'I know your secret'. It was smug, arrogant and it usually meant that an uncomfortable conversation wasn't far behind. Chris was perceptive and astute; he didn't miss a thing, especially when it was something romantic or sexual.
With him giving her that look right now, Lara knew that it could be only about one thing. One person. A secret that she hadn't realised until recently that she'd been keeping.
"So..." He fixed her with a deliberate stare, his thumb stroking idly across the top of his beer bottle. "You and Eilidh, huh?"
"What about us?" Lara's heart jumped at the question and she took a long drink of her own beer, using the steady flow of cold liquid down her throat to buy herself some time. She should have known this whole thing was a setup, right from when Chris turned up at her bedroom door with beers and a big grin on his face. It was even worse because Nick wasn't even around to reign him in like usual; he was off base and spending a fortnight with his family back in Montreal.
"Really, Bones?" Chris quirked an eyebrow at her reaction, clearly unconvinced. "You've been fucking for what? A month now?" He laughed as Lara felt her face flush. "Chill. I'm pretty sure no one else has figured it out yet. I just know you too well, is all."
"It... wasn't fucking at the start." Lara shook her head, struggling to meet his eye. "I wasn't sure and well... she didn't push."
"She wouldn't." Chris nodded, his tone absolutely serious for once. A soft smile returned to his lips. "But you're fucking now, right?"
"How did you know?"
"The little things, I guess. You stand closer together now, make more eye contact with her. There's more touching, I know PDAs aren't your thing but they're still there, hands resting on knees, brushing against arms, resting on shoulders when we're all at the bar." He shrugged at her, nonchalent. "And you look fucking happy. Getting laid suits you."
"Chris!" She swatted at his arm.
"Hey, all I'm saying is that you've got this glow. Or maybe you're just smilin' more. Either way, it's about time you let that hair down."
"Is that what this is?" Lara shrugged, giving him a quizzical look. In truth she had no idea what the hell she'd been doing for the past month. "It might suit me, but I don't recognise myself right now, Chris. Is this me? Is this who I am now?"
"Shit, Bones. Only you could have an existential crisis about some sexual experimentation."
"I'm serious!"
"And so am I." Chris shook his head, moving closer so that he could turn to look at her properly on the bed. "It's just sex. It's fun, it's casual and it will be damn intense. But it's not supposed to be stressful, that's kinda the point."
"But... she's a woman."
"And?" Chris raised an eyebrow and Lara felt instantly sheepish. Chris was the definition of pansexuality, gender was important, but not when it came to determining whether he was attracted to someone or not. He loved people, loved sex and pursued whoever the hell he liked. In a lot of ways she wished that she could be like him. "Lara... no one's asking you to come out as a lesbian here. No one is asking you to come out as anything. Maybe it's just Eilidh, maybe there'll be other women later. It doesn't matter."
"Do you honestly believe that? That sexuality is that fluid?"
"Sure I do. Tastes change, people change. Who says what we find attractive has to stay the same?" He took another sip of beer. "Eilidh cares about you. She's your friend and she loves her friends. She's probably one of the safest people you can try this with."
"Yeah..." Lara nodded softly, staring into her beer. Chris was making a good point, but it was a lot to take in, and she couldn't quite keep up with the flurry of emotions volleying through her. She hesitated, opened her mouth to speak and then shut it again. There were things she wanted to ask, but was so scared of too. Was she scared of the question itself or of it's answer? Lara didn't even know anymore. "... Is it true? That she doesn't get... involved? You know, romantically speaking I mean?"
"Involved?" Chris raised an eyebrow, looking back at her curiously. A smile tugged at his lips. "Eilidh's one of the most involved people I know, but it's her definition of involved. She's loyal, beyond loyal and like I said she cares for her friends like they're family. But, if you're asking about monogamy. Then yeah... it's true."
"But weren't the two of you together once?" Now the questions were coming thick and fast, whether Lara wanted them to or not.
"Yeah... but me and Eilidh were drawn to each other because we think the same. Well, that and the mind blowing sex, but mostly the thinking part." He shot her a jovial grin. "Commitment is a big word, and it's not something you throw around unless you're a hundred percent sure you mean it. What me and Eilidh had, hell, what we still have is still there even if we're not fucking. We appreciate that different people can give you different things, and there's nothing wrong with ten close friendships instead of just one."
"So you love without falling in love?"
"Basically..." Chris shrugged. "You know I'm not good at this deep shit, Lara. All I know is that you won't be Eilidh's one and only, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't care about you. She'd tell you all this herself, if you asked."
"And how the hell do I ask her any of this?"
"The same way you ask for anything else. Say the words, she won't hate you for it. While you're there, ask her about a threesome. I'd kill to be in the middle of that sandwich."
"Now that is something that is definitely not going to happen, Chris."
"Oh yeah?" Chris grinned, winking at her flippantly. "You know that thing Eilidh does with her tongue? I do it better. And there's only one way that you're ever going to find out..."
Despite blushing bright red for the second time that conversation, Lara felt a strange surge of curiosity swell inside herself. She fought to push it back, but it made for a very enticing thought. She knew how good Eilidh was in bed and she'd heard just how good Chris was from a variety of sources. Was it really so wrong to imagine being with them both together?
Maybe she could be a bit more sexually fluid. After all, what was the harm in having just a little more fun?
[What are you trying to do to me? Because Lara is clumsy on dry land, throw snow into the equation and she's going to end up falling on her arse more than once. That being said, she's relentless, fearless and she's got a deadly aim on her, so Eilidh better watch out. Even if it does just end up with them rolling around in the snow together, laughing and forgetting that soon their combined body heat is going to melt it and they'll get soaked through and freeze.
So that's why afterwards they head in doors, strip off every single wet piece of clothing as soon as the door shuts behind them. Remove all the bits that weren't that wet to start with too. And then they slink into the shower, turn up the heat so that it's sweltering in there and proceed to kiss and cuddle and fuck under the water until the cold snow outside is a distant memory.
Later they're curled up on the sofa, just hanging out and enjoying each other's company. Maybe Eilidh's borrowed some of Lara's clothes which are big on her and so they hang off Eilidh even more. They're nursing cups of tea and laughing and smiling and quite frankly not giving a fuck about anything outside of the pair of them for at least a few hours.]
[ I like thinking of Cain taking Lara to a fancy restaurant (or at least the nicest he can find) and afterwards they go on a walk or ice skating if they can find a place. Lara taking naps on the cot in Cain's office. Bartholomew taking naps with her. Cain being a rock (hehehe) for Lara to lean on and always making time for her.]
[A thousand times yes. And Lara panicks because she has nothing to wear, all of her dressy civilian clothes are back home. So Nick and Chris take her shopping and she ends up arguing with Chris over the length of skirt she should buy. In the end she just goes for a nice pair of trousers. But she does wear heels, because there’s no way she could tower over Cain.
Maybe they come across the ice skating rink as they’re on their walk, and Lara loves the idea of it. Until her feet hit the ice and then she’s holding onto Cain’s arm because it turns out she’s like a baby giraffe on ice. She hopes he doesn’t mind.
And as soon as she gets the hint that she doesn’t mind, she spends as much time as she can in his office with Bartholomew because God does she miss having a pet cat to cuddle. And whenever she’s worrying, about being a bad doctor because she’s a soldier, or vice versa she knows that she can go to Cain, because she can say whatever she wants to him, however stupid it might be and he’ll just sit and listen.]
