*Merlin has seen Morgan’s kill Uther in his crystal premonition and is freaking out*

Gaius: There’s nothing to suggest this threat is imminent, stop worrying!

Merlin: *still super fucking worried*

Me: It’s probably a misdirect somehow. In this episode we are all Gaius....

Gaius: “I know, but you’re playing with things that are beyond you.”

Live blogging my partner’s first viewing of BBC’s Merlin!

1.1 The Dragon’s Call:

Tyler: “Oh he [Merlin] looks so dumb.”

Me: “He is!!”

Tyler: “It seems historically inaccurate that they were not. CHEERING. For that man’s head to be cut off.”

*Woman curses Uther*

Tyler: “Bow down for the queen of garbage! The queen of filth!”

Arthur (to Merlin): “Do you know how to walk on your knees?”

Tyler: *Looks at me, suggestively, and wiggles* “Ooooohooo”

Gaius (to Merlin): “You never cease to amaze me.”

Tyler: “You’ve known him one day!”

*Merlin in The Witch/Lady Helen’s room*

Tyler: “This boy, who has never studied magic before, sees a straw doll and decides he should be snooping.”

*Merlin traveling into the dungeon to find John Hurt*

Tyler: “I just want to say again that he’s been in this castle. Two Days. He doesn’t know how to find this dragon.”

Me: “The dragon is calling him...”

Tyler: “That doesn’t mean he knows what stairways to take. Down isn’t enough of a direction...”

*Merlin goes down to see the dragon*

Tyler: “Well, well, well. Look who came crawling back. Mister You’ll-Never-See-Me-Again.”

Gaius: “The creature has all the appearances of the questing beast!”

*Uther proclaims the old religion dead, says this is impossible.*

Tyler: “You killed a unicorn!”

Talk to me about Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel pls and thank you!!!!!!! I'm #intrigued

I had an idea where Sleeping Beauty (Briar Rose in this version, Briar for short) lives in the adjacent kingdom to wherever Rapunzel was and finds the tower when she gets lost in the woods. The two women become friends and fall in love, not knowing that the witch who locked Rapunzel in the tower is the same one who cursed Briar Rose.

The tales still play out as expected: Briar succumbs to the curse and the witch finds out that the two have been seeing each other. At the end of the day, it's up to the soft anxious sapphic Rapunzel who's curious about the world but also a little terrified of it to save the day and break Briar's curse.
