Unusual coloured bone ship model, made by a prisoner of war, early 19th century
A Boneship model made by a Prisoner of War, early 19th century
Frigate Chesapeake 1799. This ship was launched in 1799 in Norfolk Virgina.
In 1813 she was captured by the English Shannon. After only 15 minutes, the captain’s death and crew was captured. This model of their ship made the men in captivity ,from dark whale bones 1814, for the captain’s widow.
This could be one of the largest boneship models in the World.
The Bone Ships is amazing, I love Tide Child, Meas and Joron. The world building is like watching a movie in your head. So stinking good. Made some Boba tea, I’ve got my book journal and a good solid 45 minutes to read. Live is good. I just started Mordew and this book just smells like fall, dank, rotten and super weird.
