hello! just saw your last update, any chance we could get more bonespreg sneak peeks in the meantime? 🫣
Omg absolutely!! Thank you so much for asking!! I'll put a cut because this is going to be a huge wall of text and clips. He's in his second trimester!
Ok so!!!
I had them go on a date-not-date; giving them the real experience of not being 100% certain if you're on a gay date or friends getting a meal together, so Jim takes the first opportunity he has to ask each of them individually what's up. He knows that Spock meant for it to be a date, and that McCoy thought it was going to be a date, but since it ended up just being them talking like regular during it, neither knows really how it went.
Then we have McCoy talking to Jim about needing to not miss his daughter's next birthday and sharing what present Spock got her, but he's got some typical pregnancy sensitivities and poor Jim really does not know what to do with that.
Also here: Spock and McCoy start platonically sharing a bed because McCoy has pregnancy insomnia. It started with Spock teaching him some meditation techniques to sleep better but he eventually just stops leaving McCoy's room at night, so of course I gotta have some pillow talk about how they're going to raise their daughter <3 And I hope you can tell but I'm about to start making Spock's crisis about his parents/the way he was raised wayyyyy worse.
THEN Spock and McCoy have their first kiss one night (Not shown in these shots because I'm still working that a little- I want it to be just right) and McCoy's kinda freaking out. He's worried Spock will want to have a long conversation about where they stand with each other, and lucky for him, Spock doesn't verbally acknowledge it at all. Instead, he just kisses him again in the morning and they go business as usual (Which like, McCoy is happy that they've got some kind of thing going on, but he's about to start panicking because he's really afraid of rushing into a relationship just because he's pregnant, which is kinda what happened with him and Jocelyn, and why it didn't work out. So he's about to have some baggage, it'll be fun) (And they're about to have an appointment with a Healer about the pregnancy)
And as a bonus: Getting into their domesticity routine, McCoy always makes breakfast and Spock always makes dinner. McCoy's been making a lot of peanut butter toast because that's what he can hold down, but he's like, I need to make Spock a Good Breakfast because I Kissed Him and I Don't Know Where We Stand but he forgets how bad his aversion to eggs is and makes him a quiche.
Remember a lot of this will get reworded, I know there's a few sentences in there that aren't quite "their" voices, but sometimes I just need to write down what I want them to say, and then figure out how they'd say it, lol
Also you might wonder what the deal with the virus is: it's because I feel like they gloss over the virus-poisoned grain in Trouble with Tribbles so I've added another plot where they're investigating what the virus is and what it does, sending their discoveries up the line.
This will be important later, towards the end of his second trimester/early third, but I haven't gotten that far yet. What I can say is it's going to lead to the circumstances that get Joanna on the ship! (I need her to make an appearance!!! And not just in the vid calls!!!)
