I’m a pretty shitty excuse for a mixed kid but there’s something that calls to me in the idea that Fabian is too much like his other parent to please either of them in freshman year. He tries to be like his father but the softness of his upbringing makes it pretty clear that he’s more bark than bite, at least at the beginning of freshman year. His mother looks at him and sees someone who’ll die long before she does. Tells it to him to his face. His father does the same by saying he’ll outlive him. He’s caught between two people that love him but who cannot help but keep telling him that he does not meet their expectations. He’ll never truly experience the thing he’s been chasing for as long as he can remember. Then there’s the whole thing about favouring one side of your heritage for ages and then getting older and becoming obsessed with another side. Fabian Seacaster you mean so much to me I’m sorry you were my least favourite for ages.
