#Repost @ellaangela_13 ・・・ Bono, lead singer of U2 is an icon worldwide. Their music has followed me since I was 12 years old in 1983 and has been the soundtrack to my life, supported me through difficult times and uplifted me at others. Everyone recognises his face so it's important to get the portrait just right! I'm not experienced at drawing faces - after studying the original photo, I realised that Bono is very tricky with his glasses, wrinkles and shading. There's no obvious starting point so I literally spent a week staring at the outlines wondering how to progress. Then I realised that the only way forward is to start somewhere slowly and steadily. Certain faces attract me, for the people they are, for their abilities or thoughts portrayed by their expressions and their soulfulness. My aim is not to create photo-realistic copy; when I draw I want to be able to portray a little of my own connection to the person - my interpretation of my understanding of them and my style. I wanted to draw Bono as I will always see him and maybe probably his masses of fans. Kudos to the original photographer.
