Boo-Buddy’s specter finding services
Name: Big Boxin' Boo (conjectural title)
Debut: Game & Watch Gallery 4
Yeah, this is just a Big Boo. But I'm calling it Big Boxin' Boo, because that's fun! And because this is a particularly interesting fellow, as far as Big Boos go. A typical Big Boo is just a Boo who is big. They get a weirdly large amount of distinction despite this, appearing as a boss in their very first appearance, and seemingly having more "lore" than other Big enemies, often being presented as amalgamations of smaller Boos! But nonetheless, essentially a Boo who is Big.
But this Big Boo has got a Little Buddy! Always a wonderful thing for a big guy to have. And this is not any Buddy, but a Boo Buddy! It's very much using the design of the standard Boos from back when they were called Boo Buddies! Which, at the time of this game's release, was not too far in the past.
So, Boxing! Luigi is in the mood to punch people. It's okay to do that, if it's sports. So here he is! This remake of the Game & Watch Boxing game has always interested me because the third opponent is Waluigi, and it's neat seeing him get an actual unique role, rather than just being there because everyone is there. But I'm not going to talk about Waluigi anymore. I'm going to make like Mario Kart 7, and ignore his existence!
Luigi is the only one who actually plays fair, punching using boxing gloves. You may recognize boxing gloves as the gloves from Boxing, which everyone is supposed to use. Big Boxin' Boo does not care! Big Boxin' Boo uses its little buddy instead! That's rude, but the buddy does not seem to mind. Maybe it's like a boxer crab and its anemones! The anemones LOVE to be carried around by the crab. They are best friends. The crab told me this, and also told me not to worry about it. I would never doubt a crab! It is my fatal flaw.
Look! When the big Boo dodges, the Buddy gets a silly face, like some of the Buddies could have in Super Mario World! This is the only instance I know of where a Boo switches between these expressions. Is that notable? Well, I like it. So it is notable to me, and that's what matters :]
It's impossible to see in a still image, but Big Boxin' Boo actually flickers while dodging, as it goes fully intangible for a moment! It is, mechanically, exactly the same as any other character's dodge, but this adds FLAVOR. Yim yom! Of course a ghost would do that. An especially cheeky ghost might use it to cheat, but this one is surprisingly fair! The little buddy even seems to be having fun. So maybe ghosts like to use their entire bodies to punch others! Maybe it would be fun for humans, too! Try it!
So apparently the ghost hunting bear that I found at the Goodwill Outlet in Minneapolis retails for $360 and contains an EMF meter. I put batteries in the pack and it still works.
