I've mentioned Amy and her blog boocanceryousuck quite a few times before and I have no qualms about mentioning her again - she is an incredible woman with an amazing story and i love everything she writes/says/does.
She needs everyone's help to fund a film she has co-written about a story very close to her own heart and i'd like to help her as much as i can to reaching her dreams. Below you will find a copy of her post and how you too can help. I've been following her throughout her journey and have shared many tears and laughter along with her through the blogs she writes - if you haven't already, i strongly recommend you take a look at her blog. It's breathtaking.
"I am VERY pleased to share with all of the WONDERFUL people on Boo Cancer a link to what I have been working on since April...
...My friend Matt and I have written a script for what we believe has the potential to be a really amazing film. But we need help! This is a link to our page on Kickstarter. I think you are all quite used to me being a ding-dong so the video of me talking about the film should live up to the high standard of ding-dong that I have set, haha.
This movie (yes Matt, I said movie) means a great deal to me. The story is about a young woman who is nearing the end of her treatment for breast cancer and who is now faced with figuring out what she really wants to do with her life. It’s about not standing in your own way. It’s about believing in yourself and the incredible amount of potential that is in each and every one of us. Matt and I have worked very hard on this script and even have permission to shoot some of the scenes at Roosevelt Hospital (for the radiation oncology bits!) and, of course, at the Ralph Lauren Center. I wanted to make sure they were included because they, like all of you, were such a huge part of my journey.
Which brings me to all of you. I can’t tell you how immensely proud I am to be able to share this with you before anyone else. I mean, you guys have been there from the start! You’ve seen this whole journey in real life! First hand! As it happened! (You get the point). Now, if we get enough people to help us, you can see it (kind of) captured on film. The direction is in Matt’s skillful hands, and guess who will be playing the lead character? Me! It’s such an honor because it’s a chance to portray a character that has been through the same thing as me. One can only hope that I will do a good job. And by one I mean me, hahaha.
Filming is scheduled to begin in October. And since this character is supposed to be finishing her radiation treatment you know what that means… I’ve got to cut my hair short again. Yep. We’ll get to that when the time comes. No need to worry about that now, haha.
So, please check out our page. And if you are so inclined, please feel free to help us out! It would surely be appreciated. This is something we have worked so very hard on and it is a story that is very near to my heart. Thank you all for being such a massive part of my incredible story and for letting me share this with you! And here is the link again just incase you missed it up above:
