Big Tech Tyrants
Bookburners was released in print!
The critically acclaimed urban fantasy about a secret team of agents that hunts down dangerous books containing deadly magic—previously released serially online by Serial Box, now available in print for the first time!
Magic is real, and hungry. It’s trapped in ancient texts and artifacts, and only a few who discover it survive to fight back. Detective Sal Brooks is a survivor. She joins a Vatican-backed black-ops anti-magic squad—Team Three of the Societas Librorum Occultorum—and together they stand between humanity and the magical apocalypse. Some call them the Bookburners. They don’t like the label.
Supernatural meets The Da Vinci Code in a fast-paced, kickass character driven novel chock-full of magic, mystery, and mayhem, written collaboratively by a team of some of the best writers working in fantasy: Max Gladstone, Margaret Dunlap, Mur Lafferty, and Brian Francis Slattery.
For the character thing: Sal Brooks :P
First impression: Very Serious Detective Who Needs A Nap Impression now: The Master of Snark. Also I guess she’s got other cool qualities, like being an awesome fighter and hella smart. And hey, positive canonical bi rep! ...but mostly the Snark. Favorite moment: Her naming an unfathomable demonic terror “Oh-Christ-What-Is-That” is, like, Peak Sal imo. Idea for a story: Ars Paradoxica crossover where Detective Sal Brooks and Dr. Sally Grissom get to cause havoc together. Maybe a book sends Sal and Grace back in time or something, idk. And then Sally can help them Science a way to deal with the fucking candle.
Unpopular opinion: Are there Bookburners controversies? Favorite relationship: Sal/Grace/Sarcasm OT3 Favorite headcanon: Hm, I don’t really have any at the moment?
[Redacted] you are not Sal Brooks. Please stop trying to be Sal Brooks.
No, no I said stop being Sal, not be more like Sal.

Don’t join the book burners. Don’t think you’re going to conceal faults by concealing evidence that they ever existed. Don’t be afraid to go in your library and read every book… – Dwight D. Eisenhower

Raksha, why do we hate candles?
Your question is inaccurate. We (or at least I) don't hate candles, as a category. For instance, these guys:
Absolutely delightful. I have most of them, and they're fantastic. Love me some mildly-scented soy candles.
I also have no hatred for these:
Beeswax candles are great! You can even get kits to make them yourself, or with kids! A fantastic crafting opportunity, and a great use for something bees make way too much of. No hatred here.
But this* tallow bastard?
This bastard knows what it did
*image shown is not of the actual bastard, as the actual bastard has no physical form in the real world. Thank god.
