I think one of the biggest things I loved about acosf is that it’s the best representation of trauma, mental health, and healing in ya/na fantasy fiction that I’ve ever read. It accurately depicts so much and I can truly relate, not only with my girl Nesta, but with Gwyn and Emerie too. Since I quit my job, I’ve been dealing with horrific anxiety and it’s been SO hard. I use reading as a means to escape and have read way too many books this year bc of it but that’s definitely cheaper than drugs hahaha. Anyway, I guess I just really wanted to say that no matter where you are in your mental health journey, I wish you the best. Whether you’re a Nesta/Gwyn/Emerie at the start of the book or you’ve become a Valkyrie, I am proud of you. After three and a half months of hard work (and learning how to digitize embroidery) my shadow and bone inferni kefta is complete. Together wiith the full ensemble, shirt, skirt and all. This were months of a lot of learning (machine embroidery and digitizing, and glove making), frustration (a million mistakes and so much handsewing), and making all the things I hate to make (full linings, facing, interlining, angles).
