Attention all fanfiction writers and readers!
It kind of sucks that this is my first post but this has to be addressed... DONāT PRINT OFF FANFICTION!!!! ESPECIALLY OFF LULU!!!!! I, like a lot of you, was interested in printing off fanfics into book format. You know that super long marauders fic that everyone is getting printed off? Ya I wanted to print that and I was going to use the highly recommended site Lulu to do it. But after a lot of research (Iām a naturally cautious person and when i started worrying about copyright and whether this is even legal cus I didnāt even write the fanfic) I discovered that using Lulu to print off fanfiction is in fact not legal. I found a blog of theirs (which Iāll link) that stated, āIf anyone other than the copyright owner makes a profit off copyrighted work, without the permission of the copyright owner, it is copyright infringement. And even if you are printing the work for private use, not selling it, we are still making money off it. Lulu makes a small profit off every book we print, which means even a book printed for your own personal use is not completely profit-less.ā This is a huge issue cus someone from the company is saying itās illegal but people think it isnāt as long as you donāt sell them. So again, I strongly advise you to read this article and not use Lulu to print off fanfiction.
Now a disclaimer, Iām not saying you should stop printing your work but I am strongly advising you to not use Lulu, especially if you didnāt wtite the fic you want to print.
