Don’t normally read/recommend short stories but had to read the Hugo 2022 Short Story Shortlist for a PhD reading group and everyone should check out Where Oaken Hearts Do Gather by Sarah Pinkser. I loved it!

Contains: niche reddit threads, small amateur scholarly communities, creepypasta folk horror and/or fey lore depending on how you interpret the characters, very strange trees.
