Day 20 Book Challenge for #storybookjuly18 : Magic Potion : book & drink. I’ve already featured this book on my July To Be Read list, but I’ve been so busy posting in Instagram, I haven’t read it yet 😱. I loved Paula Hawkins’ first book, so I’m hoping this one will be just as good. Here’s a blurb from the back: “Secrets Can Pull You Under. A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that ones through town. Earlier in the summer, a teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths dredge up secrets long submerged”. Sounds pretty creepy right? I’ll try to give you an update after I read it. Annnd we have the last book challenge of the day 😀. It’s “a (book) series you want more of”. Honestly, I can’t think of a modern series I want more of, except the final book of the Caraval series, and I don’t have a hard copy of either one of those. So, I’m going with favorite childhood series. I always wanted more of The Wizard of Oz, The Chronicles of Narnia, Anne of Green Gables and The Lord of The Rings. I would dig around at garage sales and flea markets, (in the days before eBay & the internet) to see if I could find one of L.M. Montgomery’s more obscure books. The thrill of the hunt was the fun part, anyway. #julybookstagram18 Day 14 : Fun Facts. So, around January, I started a blog on tumblr about fairytales. I was intrigued to read about George MacDonald. He was a Scottish poet, writer and Christian minister. The surprise is that he’s also considered a pioneer of fantasy literature 😮. And on a side note, he was a mentor of another writer, who happened to be named.....Lewis Carroll. For #mapmonday, I have the Reflections map from Sara Ella’s Unbreakable. I haven’t actually read this book yet, as I’m still working on her book Unraveling 😁. However, I LOVE this series, and the whole idea of an alternate version of New York. I was surprised when I read the author had never been to New York, as I thought she was a native. I’d recommend starting with Unbreakable, it’s a great young adult fantasy book (and clean).
