Blurb:
We start off with a lie on Valentine’s Day.
My blind date isn’t the studious guy I expected: he’s a drop-dead gorgeous player with sinful amber eyes. Somehow we end up at his penthouse. I blame the gin and tonic.
The next day I learn he’s Jack Hawke—bad-boy professional quarterback with a murky past. The NDA he has me sign should be a warning that he isn’t a regular person. Please. I sign it Juliet Capulet, so goodbye, famous football player with abs of steel, and good luck tracking down this small-town librarian.
But Jack keeps showing up in places I least expect him. Just when I’m sure he’s gone, he waltzes into my community theater and wins the part of Romeo to my Juliet. How’s a plain, mostly innocent girl like me supposed to resist a man like him?
Is Jack my real Romeo… or will this gorgeous football player only break my heart?
My Review:
What a fun, cute (and steamy) romance story! I only discovered Ilsa recently and she is already becoming one of my "go to" for a good romance!
This story is told from both the hero and heroine POV - I love when romance authors do that! We follow Elena and Jack, equaling to a small town romance with a famous football player.
Elena, a Librarian in the small town of Daisy in Nashville. A desired fashion designer, with a gift for unique lingerie design.
Jack, a famous football player for Nashville. A boy who grew up in the foster system after losing his mum after a horrid emotional accident.
Elena and Jack meet by circumstance when Elena mistakes Jack for her blind date. They hit it off, with their chemistry undeniable. However all of that is ruined when Jack finally comes clean that he isn't her blind date but Jack, the famous football player with a reputation.
Then begins their back and forth where destiny keeps bringing them back together, with each other constantly pushing each other away due to both having bad pasts when it comes to that little four letter word, LOVE.
It was a fun addictive read, and I did have a few giggles. I adored Elena but unfortunately found myself now drawn to Jack. He was too hot and cold with Elena for me to get attached to him and totally agreed with Elena to why she kept her distance. Well, tried to keep her distance.
Overall, the ending is cute and was another enjoyable read by Ilsa. 4/5 Stars.
