Books to movie adaptations
It has nothing to do with book reviews, but I went to see Catching Fire movie this weekend, and let me tell you: it was awesome (Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson - all of them were amazing).
To make a movie adaptation that people will like is pretty simple - and everyone involved in this movie, figured it out: be as true to the book as possible. It's pretty simple logic, actually. We read the books, we liked them, we want to see them on the screen. Not some mutilated version of them - that may be awesome on it's on, but don't call them "a book adaptation": you took the title, you took the character's names, and you made your own thing. And unfortunately there are many movie adaptations that are just like that.
And the thing is, it's not profitable for them either. The people who read the books will be the first ones to be in the movie theatre when the movie comes out. And we can all be pretty passionable about them, let's be fair. I could see Catching Fire three or four more times in theatres and drag different friends with me each time. I wouldn't do the same for Percy Jackson movies (awesome on they're on, but not really faithfull to the books), or TMI (sorry, sorry , sorry - but that last part just makes me go: nope).
So yeah, this is my opinion about it.
I do hope that they are faithfull in the divergent movies adaptation.
