“Shine a Light.”
My Book Assessment (not sure) on The Heroes of Olympus Book One: THE LOST HERO by Rick Riordan
I was still nerved from Percy’s adventure in Percy Jackson & the Olympians Series, The Last Olympian, particularly. What with all those perfectly paced action-packed battles of demigods from different quests they’ve been in. The five books of the first series from Rick Riordan really could make someone devour the book like he/she can’t get enough. Reading the book has made me a certified glutton, and it was like I am gulping down every page greedily as I would a bowl full of ambrosia, or maybe pasta.
When I started reading the first two chapters, I was kind of disappointed. First off, the book has a third person point of view narration. I was never a fan of that kind of POV especially when you’ve dwelled too much time reading books from Simon Elkeles, Suzanne Collins, Stephenie Meyer, Jeff Kinney, Pittacus Lore etcetera. (As you may notice books from these authors are mostly using “I” POV or first person point of view. So, it’s pretty annoying switching from “I’ POV to third person POV. Another thing I have observed was that this book manifested the Roman counterpart of the Greek Gods. Like Vulcan, as Roman form of Hephaestus; Jupiter, for Zeus; Juno, for Hera, and so on.
Half way through finishing the book, I got a lot of queries (Yeah, I know for certain that happens a lot, particularly in Rick Riordan’s books) and was left with three significant questions:
Why did Jason appear at Camp Half-blood and can’t remember anything?
What is with the Roman aspect thing with the Greek Gods?
Where the hell is Percy Jackson and why was he missing the exact same day Jason had appear on Camp Half-blood without any memory?
I Am Number Four, by Pittacus Lore
I just finished reading I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore just now. Since my brother has been sitting long in front of the computer and I have nothing to do with it, I just decided that it is time to deal with the book, since I have trouble giving time reading it last week. I was taken by the action-filled parts in the chapters after the Mogadorians knew the identity of Number Four at school. John Smith/Number Four had a hard time escaping the Mogadorians because it is too late to run when the whole school’s been surrounded by soldiers and scouts of Mogadore. It sucks when film makers change things written on books. Some parts in the movie are far way different from what’s in the book. But I managed myself to just let it off, and still watched the movie instead.
And then there’s this part where Henri, Number Four’s Cepan, was shot by a Mogadore’s gun and John knew that he wouldn't survive that shot. I was carried away with the story and am ashamed that I was crying while reading it.
Four wasn't killed somehow, neither Sam, or Six. They've managed to escape Paradise, Ohio and went undercover somewhere in North Carolina.
Maybe by tomorrow, I’ll finally read the sequel to the first book which is “The Power of Six”. I don’t know what the meaning of it is but I have conclusions: Maybe it stands for the Power of Number Six, or most likely, it is the Power of six Garde left alive on Earth.
AND THEN WE CONTINUED BLISSFULLY INTO THIS SMALL BUT PERFECT PIECE OF OUR FOREVER.
Nakakatuwa na pinagtatawanan ako nung naiyak ako sa ending ng Breaking Dawn Part 2. Pero seriously, I cried kasi I felt happy. I felt like I'm in-love. Watching Edward and Bella's love story, it's like being so madly in-love with someone I don't even know. Nakakaiyak kasi matatapos na yung series. I've been reading the books. From Twilight to Breaking Dawn, and that feeling you get when you've fin'lly watched what you have read? It's something unexplained. It's like pag may nagtanong sa'yo how was the feeling after watching the movie... You can't even mutter a bit kasi you can't verbalize the words sa sobrang saya. I have read so many novels. Book series. Trilogies. I've been digging to books like Diary of Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins. The Lovely Bones. Percy Jackson and the Olympians Book Series. Over 10 books na nababasa ko pero yung Twilight Saga. No one replaces them in my heart and mind. Kinda cheesy, but it's true. I'm not fond of reading. As in ang tamad ko talaga. Magsolve nga ng math problems, tamad na. Magbasa pa kaya. Because of Breaking Dawn... I've change my perspective on reading novels. Dahil sa book report ko sa English nung Senior Year, I've been trying so hard to be patient on reading the book. And I didn't made a wrong choice kasi maganda pala talaga yung story. Having a few background of the story, I started reading Twilight, up to Breaking Dawn. And ayun nga. Napanuod mo na din at last yung movie. And yng reaction mo... Yung alam mo na yung story. Yung di mo na kailangan i figure out kung bakit nagkaganon, nagkaganito... Kasi nga, binasa mo na. If they say na mas magandang basahin kesa panuorin. And others say na mas magandang panuorin kesa basahin... I refuse to believe those two statements. Kasi para sakin, mas maganda if you have it both ways. Basahin muna bago panuodin. And yung reaction ko this time, mas maganda yung twist sa movie. I admit. Sorry Ms. Stephenie. Kasi sa book, there was no vision of Alice that showed a fight between Volturi and Vampire Covens. Lumabas lang si Alice kasama si Nahuel, yung kauri ni Renesmee. Then, tapos. Pero sa movie, Alice had a vision of the fight.
Nakakalungkot kasi namatay si Carlisle, and seeing Esme cried as Carlisle lose his head. Namatay si Seth, si Leah, si Jasper. I got Misty eyes kasi unexpected deaths yung nangyari. Even I was shocked. Pero Aro was still defeated. That made Aro back out. MAS MAGANDA YUNG TWIST.
But what made me really cry? It was this:
THE ENDING. And the last part which they showed the last line of the novel.
And then we continued blissfully into this small but perfect piece of our forever.
I was like, "OMG. Yan yung last line ng nabasa ko.!"
I'll never get over with this movie. I swear this.
*thousand years*
