Now before you jump to conclusions, I didn’t leave because of trolls and unfriendly users (unlike Dueling Network); the people on the site were some of the nicest users I’ve seen on the Internet. They were kind enough to read my stories and leave some valid criticisms to help improve on my writing; I couldn’t be more happy to talk to some nice, honest and helpful users on the Internet. With that said, I left because I wanted to move on; it’s kind of a long story, so let me explain. In January 2013, I came across Figment because they were hosting a contest; I thought there’d be some cash reward so I signed up and wrote my first short story on the site. However, because the contest had a word limit, I couldn’t tell the story I wanted to tell. I participated in a few more contests before finally deciding that I should just do my own thing. So for the next 2 years I’ve been pumping out stories and poems which met with overall positive feedback. Then last month, I looked back at my profile and realized that I wasn’t growing as a story teller; I had 37 followers, but they didn’t share my work with others. That and I felt it was a tedious process having to ask 1 user at a time to read my stories. As a story teller, I want people to take a look at my work and share it with others if they think it’s good; it’s kinda what YouTubers like Pewdiepie, Markiplier, The Creatures and Cupquake expect whenever they make a video they put time and effort into making. I don’t expect it to happen overnight by any means, I just figured that if I really try hard enough, more and more people will be aware of the stories I’m trying to tell. So what now? Now, I’m on a website called Booksie.com; it’s a website where I can post my stories and poems and let people decided whether or not they’d like to read them. I don’t have to ask them one by one, if they don’t want to read my stories, they don’t have to. So, if you like, be sure to check out my Booksie profile and become a fan; it would be very much appreciated and help me grow as a story teller if you do. Take care :)
