Untitled book tagThanks @ bibliophilecats for tagging me!Is there…
I am highly impressed you read Harry Potter in French. Whenever people come to me and ask me about recommendations for a book to improve their/their children’s English, I talk them out of getting Harry Potter. I always recommend contemporary books because, although the early Harry Potter are targeted at children and the standard vocabulary is on that level, all the special fantasy vocabulary makes it very difficult (and is not that helpful for everyday life ;-) ).
(That being said, my first books in English were, in fact, books by Tamora Pierce and also Harry Potter ... but I did struggle with the vocabulary.)
