Book 38 of 2023 The Witch and the Vampire by @francescafloresauthor Thank you to @netgalley and @wednesdaybooks for the eARC. I really liked this one. Ava and Kaye are full of magic and secrets. Ava is on the run from her mother and step-dad, Kaye just wants to know who killed her mother - she thinks it's Ava (her former best friend). The forest provides a means of escape... but the forest has its own secrets. This is very YA, and I would have no problem recommending this to younger teens. The romance is very minor and sweet. 4 out of 5 stars. Recommend for those that liked The Midnight Girls or Cinderella is Dead. Book 36 of 2023 The Sword by @jbreeauthor This prequel novella is from Soren's (aka The Savage Prince) point of view. It is set some time after the events of The Scepter. I didn't like it as much as The Scepter, but I am still looking forward to The Crown of Oaths and Curses, which is scheduled to release April 27, 2023. Book 30 of 2023 Not All Himbos Wear Capes by @c.rochelle_author First off, I have @thebookspice to thank for this amazing recommendation. I sent her a reel of a vibe I was looking for, and she delivered. This was my favorite book of February (which was full of perfect reads for me), it was perfect from start to end. I love Xander and Butch with their superhero/villain dynamics, and the smut is hands down some of the best outside of unhinged fan-fiction that I've ever read. 5 out of 5 stars, 5 out of 5 🌶 for spice. There's a list of kinks/content warnings at the beginning of the book that is necessary for readers. Book 29 of 2023 Delilah Green Doesn't Care by @ashleyhblake OMG, where do I start? Oh, I know, 'Do I want to be Claire or be with Claire?' Book 28 of 2023 The Fox and The Dryad by @skellygraves OMG, I loved this book. The dynamics between Briar and Malric were delicious, the dancing was perfect, the snark and dialogues were *chef's kiss* Briar is a human chasing perfection on the ballet stage, Malric is running from his controlling mum, and their stories intersect in the most fantastic way. Briar has my heart with their sarcasm, and desire for perfection, and slutty, slutty ways. Malric is fey and utter perfection. I was lucky enough that Kellen trusted me with an ARC, and I have to say you have created perfection once again. Book 27 of 2023 Small Favors by @penchant4words I loved House of Salt and Sorrow when I read it, and I was excited to see about this book, but I didn't clue in that this has horror elements, so when listening to it, I got creeped out. It was deliciously creepy, and I really liked the characters, particularly the boy that Ellerie gave a name to and Sadie. Spooky, small isolated rural pioneer town, caught up in religious fervor, creepy monsters in the woods, realities of farm life, tragedy strikes, and the weight of responsibility lies on an 18 year old girl. Recommend for those that like Young Adult horror. 4 out of 5 stars.
