                   ❛     yeah, i understood next to none of that.     ❜          which was weird, because usually toph was the one making the MOST sense out of all of them. toph didn’t ramble. &. since when had TOPH ever cared about ethics? or whether what she had to say would hurt his feelings? that was katara’s whole gig.

 honestly      ,      she  thought  it  was  obvious  by  now  that  she  has  a  soft  spot  for  him    ｡      maybe  she  just  hasn’t  shown  it      ,      which  she’s  glad  about      ,      because  just  the  thought  of  it  makes  her  stomach  churn    ｡      and  not  in  the  good  way      ,      either    ｡      and  it  makes  her  palms  clammy    ｡      not  a  good  feeling    ｡

   ❝  okay  ｡  here’s  what  we’re  gonna  do  ｡  ❞      she’s  stuffing  their  last  little  bag  of  fire  nation  coins  into  a  pocket  she’d  made  in  her  robes  ,  so  that  the  next  people  don’t  see  them  carrying  it  and  get  suspicious  ｡  they’ve  only  done  a  few  scams  today  ,  and  they’ve  still  got  time  before  they’re  supposed  to  get  back  to  their  camp  to  eat  ｡  surely  ,  they  can  pull  off  one  more  before  they’re  on  their  way  back  ｡  once  her  hands  are  free  ,  she  points  to  a  few  men  standing  in  one  corner  of  the  square  ｡      ❝  they’re  looking  for  suckers  ｡  you’re  gonna  go  in  there  and  bet  you  can  win  ,  and  i’ll  make  it  happen  ｡  ❞

 she  slips  through  the  gates  with  a  glass  cup  of  tea  that  she  had  taken  from  the  station      ｡      steam  rolls  into  her  nostrils  and  over  her  eyes      ,      but  it  doesn’t  bother  her      ｡      she  knows  where  she’s  going      ,      how  many  people  are  around      ｡      she  also  knows  that  she’s  arriving  just  about  three  minutes  late      ,      which  she  knows  sokka  won’t  like  in  the  slightest      ｡      that’s  exactly  what  she’s  aiming  for      ｡                          ❛          hope  i’m  not  late      ｡          ❜                          she  gestures  to  her  eyes      ,      smirking      ｡                          ❛          it’s  kinda  hard  to  tell  the  time  when  i  can’t  see      ｡          ❜

“Yeah—?” Observant, Zuko’s attention followed the same line of sight, to the stand of BAUBLES glinting in the festival lights. He craned his neck around his friend, and a smile steadily GREW to hook firmly at both sides of his mouth. “You wanna go take a look? The fireworks won’t be starting for a little while longer, so we have some time to KILL.” In a pause, he began nibbling on another handful of fire flakes. “More specifically: time to shop.”

“We’re LUCKY”—he enunciated each syllable, guaranteeing he had his friend’s attention before saying more—“the stew wasn’t still over a BLAZING HOT fire.” And instead over them, now; he wished he could blame that on Sokka, but what IDIOT put their leftovers there of all places? Slowly, Zuko lifted a hand to pick some SOLID element of the dish off his face, and thereafter wiped off the broth smelling so much stronger now of fish. Of course it was something with FISH. Yeah, that was... That was a tentacle. Okay. “Did Boomerang come back?” He flicked the appendage away. “Or was all that for NOTHING?”

HE  IS  SPEECHLESS  FOR  A  SECOND      surprised  by  the  action  of  the  boy  from  the  watertribe.     the  prince  can  still  feel  the  gentle  touch  where  the  tip  of  sokka’s  finger  had  touched  him.     he  cannot  remember  the  last  time  someone  had  touched  him,    let  alone  as  innocently  as  this.

i literally love you so much you dork.     you’ve always been an extreme delight to write and plot with and i cannot wait to wreck this fandom again    together.
