Feature Friday: iPad Check-In, Eventprofs Directory + Venue For Winos
A busy week that's leading into the big reveal of some more HUGE news from Boomset's HQ. We took our eventtech partners, Choose2Rent, along to #RedkenSymposium2015 in Vegas for printed name badges and all, displaying some of the best design our kiosk mode has seen yet.
And what happened in Vegas didn't stay there -- this mobile event registration app and its partners had places to go! The Context Summits in Miami was calling, and needed an ideal iPad check-in app.
Glamorous hair and an impressive guestlist, we can't wait to announce the next big thing for event apps. Make sure you're connected with us here, and read on for this week's event inspiration.
FEATURED VENUE: ASTOR WINES & SPIRITS
Astor Center has most certainly made a name for itself in all of Manhattan. A producer of wines and a tasting classroom, the venue has uprooted from its home on Astor Place to build a larger "center" that offers unique event spaces accessible to the public in the De Vinne Press Building.
Those interested in the venue have 4 spaces to choose from:
THE GALLERY: 125 SEATED DINNER, 150 STANDING; 1,900 SQFT
The vaulted ceilings present an air of sophistication to the existing industrial vibe given by the exposed brick and iron columns, romantically pairing with the terracotta and wood flooring.
THE LOUNGE: 100 SEATED DINNER, 125 STANDING; 1,900 SQFT
Play up the 20-foot mahogany bar in the bi-level layout with built-in banquette seating under the 12-foot ceiling.
THE STUDY: 36 STADIUM SEATING; 1,400 SQFT
Complete with a demonstration kitchen opposite the exposed brick walls, opt to have an off-site meeting for a more complete "sensory education" experience.
THE KITCHEN: 30 THEATER-STYLE SEATING, 24 SEATED DINNER, 20 HANDS ON COOKING; 1,100 SQFT
Another space ideal for smaller gatherings, the kitchen is ideal for food shops and hands-on experimenting.
All spaces have access to A/V equipment and a quality catering facility, and would be ideal for holding amultisession event. Book a private class for clients, team building, or to simply connect with your inner wino (though they have non-alcoholic options, as well). Connect with their event management team here.
FEATURED #EVENTPROFS: EVENTOPEDIA
A UK-based platform for event and meeting professionals, Eventopedia is new to the industry with one main goal: to make the event organizing process faster, easier, and effective.
Event professionals can go ahead and promote their products and services on their own personal listing to maximize exposure. It's also a rich resource for others, especially when searching for venues, suppliers, and other eventprofs for collaborations over in the UK.
Do some browsing, even search for job listings. (Going abroad for a little travel would do wonders to spark your creativity!) See the platform, start planning an international event, and get more details here.
FEATURED EVENT TREND: GOING LOCAL
Image and tips via Empowermint Blog
What happens to be a top hospitality meetings and event trend this year is highlighting local food at social gatherings.
We got to hop on both the health and wellness AND local trends at the #MindfulMeetings event a few weeks ago, tasting the NYC delicacies from Hint of Greens.

This also gives you the opportunity to really explore your event city's character---even if you're stuck on a trade show floor all day. Do a search, ask for reviews, and let the tasting commence!

Featured #Eventprofs + Event Extra: Got Cake NYC
Yes, it's a duo of creativity and fun and what a pleasure to have met the originator of this event yumminess. This week's Feature Friday highlights the #eventprofs/event detail combo, Got Cake NYC, and they're now one of our newest favorites on the scene. There's no such thing as too much chocolate (shhh...), and we know Got Cake NY will be appreciated and gobbled up at future events.
Beginning her career as a sculptor, owner and operator Shanyce decided to do what many of you event professionals do when you first began your planning adventures: go after her dreams and let her creative side take over. Designing and molding with her hands was a knack for this Brooklyn native, so adding sweets to the mix only amplified her talent. Starting with with custom-made cakes, Shanyce has branched out to give the people what they want at events--literally!
You choose your cake flavor, icing, and toppings to boot. They're innovative, fun, and best of all--tasty! Her newest delight is one for the adult crowd: Drunken Truffles! Small rich chocolates morsels spiked with an extra kick, they can be made sans-alcohol but we know you eventprofs like to party!
We can't wait to see more of these at venues and events in the NYC area and beyond. Connect on Instagram @gotcakeny and email any inquiries to [email protected]. Tell 'me Boomset sent you! (Feel free to order a couple extra for your favorite event tech friends...YUM!)
