1: Talk about the first time you watched your favorite movie.

My favorite movie is called Persepolis and it’s based off two graphic novels by Marjane Satrapi. She grew up during the Iranian revolution and basically tells the tale of her life. I had read these books on the recommendation of my parents and once I had finished they bought me the movie. When it first started I was taken back by how similar the animation was to the illustration in the books and I thought that was really impressive. After it was over it really spoke to me about the cost of war but also the beauty of humanity. Now I watch it whenever I am alone or missing my youth, just the soundtrack and the way I relate to the story puts me back in a simpler time. 

32: Talk about a place you remember from your childhood.

Now before the days of Persepolis I was too young to go to school. With my parents both working, they weren’t able to watch me so I would go to my grandparents farm every morning. When I say farm, I don’t mean the Red Barned Chicken Running place that you think of. My grandparents were in their late seventies at the time so the days of milking cows and harvesting grain were long behind them. But the farm was still amazing. I explored the long gone barn that held tools rusted long ago. I conquered the machinery left in the pasture once its time had been spent and pretended I was a pirate sailing the open sea. I hid in the lilac bush that had been shaped in such a way you could pretend it was a house with Ray and Annie, my grandmas dogs. I climbed mulberry trees that produced the sweetest fruit I could get my purple, juice stained hands on. The farm was where I grew up and was a child. The memories I have of it all mesh together so I can’t really choose just one place in it, so I’m just going to go with the whole thing.
