Thai Tea, Whitey . . .
Bootlegger’s Party Like Prince Harry Double IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 3 of 4. A solid juicy, hazy IPA -- delivers what you’d expect with some bright citrus up front and some fainter tropical fruit notes. In the body, on the sweeter side of things up front with a mild bitterness in the finish and a touch of booze.
Bootlegger’s Brewery International Relations Pale Ale (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 3 of 4. Smells of a complex mix of hops, mostly tropical and floral with a bit of juicy sweetness behind it. Relatively light and clean on the palate, and a slightly more bitter backend. Quite well-balanced and good.
Bootlegger’s Far Out IPA on tap at Eureka at SDSU. A 3 of 4. Smells a bit tropical and vanilla-y and of some orange juicy sweetness. Much the same up front in the body without a ton of bitterness. Definitely some brighter tropical notes, but the vanilla quality in the middle is super weird. Slightly bitter and resinous in the finish.
Dry Hopped Golden Chaos - Bootlegger's Brewery by Eric Pawlisko
Bootlegger’s Rustic Rye IPA (Picked up at Ralph’s). A 2 of 4. Pretty faint smell, but there’s some rye spiciness and some herbal hop presence there. Drinks with much more rye in the body and a bit of caramel sweetness, and only a mild bitterness on the palate. Finishes quite cleanly, and quite drinkable overall.

Dr. Tongue - Bootlegger's Brewery
Bootlegger's is a Fullerton, CA based brewing company. With a wide variety of delicious brews they have set the bar high in the Orange County brew scene. I recently stopped at their local tasting room to try a few and take home a growler. Most of their beers are heavier, focusing on robust porters and IPA's. The complexity level is high within their brews and the flavor is full bodied.
With that said, here is my review of Dr. Tongue
Billed as an American Original Ale, with 7.7% ABV and 200 IBU's, this beer starts smooth and ends with a strong hop.
The color is a dark amber that just beautiful. The lacing on the glass is great and the carbonation held up well even though I brought it home in a growler.
The aroma has a carmel hint with notes of pine and citrus.
Taste is tough on this one as there are so many things happening its hard to lock down every little flavor. There are strong notes of carmel at the beginning with a bit of lemon. This is immediately taken over by the strong taste of the hop flavor. The hops stay on your tongue after your sip, leaving you with a little present for you take home.
The consistency of the beer is medium, but it is balanced very well with the flavors.
I had it both on tap and at home via a Bootlegger's Growler and they were both excellent. If you in Orange County area or if you can find the bottles in your area, I strongly suggest you check this out. It's an amazing brew thats offered many times throughout the year. Make sure to let me know if you go to the tasting room, I might stop by for a drink!
