Madtree Seeing Colors Hazy IPA (Picked up at Kroger in Cincinnati, OH). A 2 of 4. Smells of orange citrus with a faint bit of tropical notes behind it. Quite fruity and juicy in the body without much to balance, and a bit lighter-bodied than even most mass-market hazy IPAs.
Sierra Nevada West Ghost West Coast IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 4 of 4. Honestly this is great and a bit surprising how good it is -- lots of big citrus notes with a bit of tropicality, too, and the body is nice and bitter. Well-balanced, easy-drinking, and some nice resin lingers in the finish.
Trillium Express Way DDH IPA (Picked up at Standard Beer in Cincinnati, OH). A 3 of 4. Very good -- stone fruit dominates with a lot of peach and is relatively juicy without a ton of carbonation to lift it. More hop complexity in the body shines a bit but this ends up on the fruitier / sweet side of IPAs in this style.
Tröegs Troegenator Doublebock (Thanks, Steph!). A 3 of 4. Nice for the style with the caramel and roast malt notes that you'd expect in the body, as well as a bit of dark fruit. A touch boozy, as you'd expect, but the malt sweetness balances nicely.
Columbus Brewing Devil's Kush IPA (Picked up at Queen City Wine & Spirits in Cincinnati, OH). A 3 of 4. Mostly tropical fruit in the nose, though there is a decent bit of herbal and resinous notes too, given the name. Lighter body with some sticky lacing and quite refreshing overall.
Humble Sea + Barebottle Brewing Too Many Kooks Hazy DIPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 3 of 4. Smells primarily of a big mix of tropical fruit with citrus behind it. The body is very soft on the palate and has a real stickiness to it with some juicy tropical notes poking through. Finishes relatively simply with some lingering grapefruit.
The Veil Merciless Hazy DIPA (Picked up at Standard Beer in Cincinnati, OH). A 3 of 4. Nice big tropical mix in the nose as you'd expect with quite a bit of orange citrus and some berry notes behind it all. Somewhat soft on the palate and while you can tell this is bigger, it's not that boozy or bitter towards the finish.
Collective Arts Good Monster NE Double IPA (Picked up at McCaffrey's in Blue Bell, PA). A 3 of 4. Mostly orange citrus and stone fruit in the nose, but there's some more grapefruit pith-like bitterness in the body and a few other tropical notes. It's hazy and slightly soft on the palate and drinks easily enough with almost a lemon-like presence that lingers.
Madtree Seeing Colors Double Juicy IPA (Picked up at Kroger in Cincinnati, OH). A 3 of 4. Smells of orange citrus and some fruit cocktail-like notes, and up front it's quite clear this is big at 9.5%. Still, it lives up to the juicy name and manages to drink quite easily.
Harland + Burgeon Color Form West Coast IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 3 of 4. Nice big mix of citrus in the nose including some lemon/lime along with the orange and grapefruit, and has quite a bit of more herbal notes in the body, too. Refreshing and nicely balanced.
Lolev Panther Ultra Hopped Ale IPA (Picked up at Standard Beer in Cincinnati, OH). A 4 of 4. Just absurd in the amount of tropical notes packed into this double IPA and an incredibly soft body. Bursting with lots of citrus, stone fruit, and bright tropical notes, and then the body has quite a lot of juiciness to it and remains quite soft on the palate. Manages to stay well-balanced and drink easily.
Tired Hands TDH Death Tripper Galaxy IPA (Picked up at McCaffrey's in Blue Bell, PA). A 4 of 4. Like the normal Death Tripper, this is just more of that -- lots of stone fruit and tropical fruit and a very soft body on the palate just bursting with lots of different hop notes. Quite excellent.
Columbus Brewing Co IPA (Picked up at Queen City Wine & Spirits in Cincinnati, OH). A 3 of 4. A perfectly solid IPA with nice mix of grapefruit and some fainter pine notes behind it. Relatively light on the palate and easy-drinking.
Pure Project Golden Sol West Coast IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 3 of 4. A really good West Coast IPA with a bit of a lighter body -- nice mix of tropical fruit and citrus plus quite a bit of resin and pine towards the finish.
Trillium Brewing Fort Point IPA (Picked up at Standard Beer in Cincinnati, OH). A 4 of 4. Mostly orange citrus and some stone fruit in the nose, with a bit more tropical complexity in the body. The body is nicely soft on the palate and balanced well with some more pine coming in towards the finish. Not over-the-top, but nice complexity in a lighter package.
Other Half + New Trail + Yakima Chief Proving Grounds Hazy IPA on tap at the Pour House in North Wales, PA. A 3 of 4. Nice herbal and resinous notes that are a bit more prominent as well as a solid grapefruit/orange citrus profile behind it. It's hazy but not exceptionally so, and it drinks a bit more like a standard IPA that's simply not filtered.
Rhinegeist Slow Jam Juicy IPA (Picked up at a Kroger in Cincinnati, OH). A 3 of 4. Smells of orange citrus in the nose and quite a bit more herbal/resinous notes than I was expecting for something billed as juicy. Relatively clean in the finish with a little bit of pith-like bitterness that lingers.
