Since 2010, one day and one beer at a time, I post my notes on beers that I've had and where to find them. I rate beers on a purposefully coarse scale: 4 = Excellent 3 = Good 2 = Mediocre 1 = Bad Who am I?

Lawson's Little Sip IPA on tap at Magerks in Fort Washington, PA. A 3 of 4. Nice bright tropical notes in the nose and the relatively lighter body really lets them shine. Still not a real lightweight at 6%, but quite refreshing and has many of the characteristics you'd expect of something bigger.

Madtree Seeing Colors West Coast IPA (Picked up at Kroger in Cincinnati, OH). A 3 of 4. Smells of tropical fruit and a little bit of pine, and this body is quite light. Refreshing, easy-drinking, and a little bit of bitterness lingers in the finish.

Pure Project Neverending Weekend Hazy IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 3 of 4. Nice stone fruit and various tropical fruit in the nose and a touch of citrus, too. Quite juicy on the palate with pineapple feeling dominant. Tasty and interesting, but not as complex as some and bit more juice-like than I like.

Hill Farmstead's Susan IPA on tap at Capone's in Norristown, PA. A 4 of 4. Incredible color and lots of tropical fruit and floral notes in the nose. Don't expect to be beat over the head with the hops here, this is beautifully restrained and quite excellent.

Columbus Brewing Bodhi Double IPA (Picked up at Queen City Wine & Spirits in Cincinnati, OH). A 3 of 4. A nice big IPA with lots of orange citrus and some fainter tropical notes around the margin. Well-balanced medium body has a nice amount of bitterness in the finish and enough malt sweetness to balance well. Drinks easily, and quite good.

There Does Not Exist Green Prophet Hazy IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 4 of 4. Just bursting in the nose of various tropical and stone fruit and white wine-like grape notes with some earthy resinous in the background. The body is very soft on the palate and thick but not cloying or too fruity -- there's a lot going on here and the body feels a touch oily which helps keep your palate somewhat clean. Pretty incredible.

Von C Walking on Clouds on tap at Guppy's Good Times in Conshohocken, PA. A 3 of 4. Nice big tropical notes in the nose including some grapefruit and stone fruit, and a nice medium hazy body. Drinks easily, not going to stand out of a pack of hazies probably, but quite good.

Rhinegeist Truth Bomb Imperial IPA (Picked up at Queen City Wine & Spirits in Cincinnati, OH). A 3 of 4. Smells of mostly tropical fruit with a faint touch of pine, and the body is much the same with a bit more citrus. A touch lighter in the body than I was expecting, and the bitterness and booze are moderately noticeable in the finish.

Lagunitas Southern Hemishaze Hazy IPA (Picked up at Costco). A 3 of 4. Quite a bit more interesting hop profile than I was expecting with bright tropical fruit and some stone fruit and berry, too. The body is nice and hazy and soft on the palate and has everything it should. Quite solid.

Rhinegeist Beer for Humans Pale Ale (Picked up at Kroger in Cincinnati, OH). A 3 of 4. This is a perfectly good pale ale with some nice tropical notes and a faint bit of herbal notes. The body is quite light, but it's nice and refreshing.

Blind Lady Ale House + Fall Brewing Park Life Lager (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 3 of 4. Light and clean with some nice floral and citrus notes in the nose. Refreshing and easy-drinking -- a bit more of a hop presence up front that most lagers that adds some interest.

Rhinegeist Expressionism Tropical IPA (Picked up at Kroger in Cincinnati, OH). A 3 of 4. Quite light and fruity with some interesting berry and pineapple as well as some more classic citrus. Very light body carries this well, and it's quite refreshing.

Drake's Best Coast IPA (Picked up at Total Wine). A 3 of 4. I'm a big longtime fan of Drake's, and this is a perfectly fine IPA -- mostly orange hop notes with just a little bit of resin behind it. Medium body that's well balanced and finishes with a medium bitterness.

MadTree Brewing Galaxy High Imperial IPA (Picked up at Queen City Wine & Spirits in Cincinnati, OH). A 3 of 4. A really bright and big tropical IPA with a nice medium body that features the hops quite well. Mostly tropical notes with a bit of herbal qualities later in the palate, and a relatively aggressive bitter finish. Quite tasty, it's close to a 4.

Bottle Logic Binary Sunset Hazy Triple IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 3 of 4. Nice mix of tropical fruit and quite a bit of resinous notes behind it. Much the same in the body, and while this is hazy, it's still pretty aggressive on the palate with bitterness and not all that soft.

Rhinegeist Truthadelic Imperial Hazy IPA (Picked up at Kroger in Cincinnati, OH). A 3 of 4. Quite well-balanced for the 9.5% ABV with a nose of lots of grapefruit and orange citrus notes and a few other tropical notes. The booze stays quite well-hidden behind the light to medium juicy body, and some orange lingers on the palate.

Fieldwork Galaxy Juice Hazy IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 4 of 4. Lots of tropical fruit, particularly pineapple, dominate in the nose and there's some nice candy-like fruit including a bunch of citrus behind it. Quite juicy in the body, which is not unexpected given the name, and this has some lingering pith-like bitterness on the palate. Quite a lot going on for something on the lighter end of things and really lingers on the palate.
