OKOKOK so I've gone very deep into the BloodyMary rabbit hole and now i present my fanchild, Felicette Grace...
I had a lot of ideas for her, and as much as I love the 'traumatised parents have a child and the child is the happiest kid ever' troupe i felt like that wasn't possible here, especially with the circumstances. Since i felt like its just unrealistic for a person to be perfect and happy.
I wanted Felicette to be an example of depression without trauma, because unfortunately that's just how humans work. Plus shes a 14 year old girl on an alien planet with no females around her to teach her about her body or any of the girly things she's experiencing (puberty is a bitch).
Grace and Simon would obviously be great parents and despite all they have been through as people they would provide their daughter with all they can possibly give her, but being born in a place like Erid would obviously do something to a very young human who has NEVER been to earth or any human made environment.
Being born on Erid would stunt her growth, she'd probably never grow to make it over 5'5- if that -due to the gravity. Having never been in an atmosphere for humans, her physical body would be considerably different, and she would develop some Eridian traits, such as sharper hearing, ability to navigate without light and she'd become quite strong due to double gravity.
But being born on an alien planet does have severe downsides. She became a chronic insomniac due to the strange sleep schedules of Eridians, and she wished to be awake at the same time as the Eridians but she is still human and her body could not take the strain of all that effort with no sleep, and even when she did try to sleep she simply couldn't, and this furthermore caused her to have night terrors a few times a week. Her eating habits were also affected, she was born as a picky person and food simply did not interest her, she hated the synthetic food provided and longed for human food even though she'd never have it. From what I've imagined i feel like shed have ARFID. As a result she became rather skinny, which wasn't very good considering how hard it was already for the human body on Erid.
Now her parents constantly try to help her with these reoccurring issues but it proves to be difficult because to the fact they are on an alien planet and also teenager. Now the one who noticed first was Grace, since he'd taught kids for so long he knew when they were going through something heavy. He noticed it in his own kid, she was avoidant and often wore long clothing in the warmest days, she'd lock herself away and when confronted about all of this all she could do was wail and cry and beg to make it stop. (im NOT projecting). After this breakdown and a few more her parents realised she was in serious danger of herself and began to act upon different treatments and synthetic medication to help with her self destructive issues. During the waiting period of this medication they often would console her and beg her to stop hurting herself both mentally and psychically, which took time but it eventually worked.
On the brighter side, she's an amazing artists, crushing rocks and plants she finds into fine pastes and using old cloth as her canvas, even fashioning brushes from her hair. Since there is a rather large lack of pretty, feminine clothing she learned to sew, longing for some form of delicate femininity around all the aliens and men. She learnt to sew dresses and skirt and cute shirt, embroidering her own designs. She also took up carving from watching Rocky for so long, it seemed to come naturally. She's an amazing writer, making play and novellas, which she kept secret until she made the dire mistake of leaving one WIP on the counter to which her insanely supportive parents read over the first page and praised her for it profusely. This small mistake lead her to become more open about her art, allowing others to see when she's met her personal criteria. She also adores her dads' stories of their adventures, from earth to the space station, the blood ocean, Petrova lines, the Hail Mary, Iron Lung all of it.
When she's not struggling she's a calm but outgoing person, making sassy or sarcastic remarks (Rocky's fault) and often making light fun of her parents. She'd be an amazing friend to go to a rave with. She really doesn't give a shit about other's opinions. She often gives Simon shit for not having an arm tho.
Now one could argue that the physical points i mentioned before might affect Grace and Simon, but i say no, stupid, because they were already fully grown and considerably healthy (i feel like Simon would've experienced most of his recovery on the Hail Mary so...) when they reached Erid and they already were developed and there was really nothing the atmosphere of Erid could do to influence their forms, but Felicette was an infant, so her body would obviously be much more messed up.
But all in all her life on Erid is much more than all of this, she has two loving parents an a world full of sassy rocks.
If you actually read all of that I'm very impressed and very flattered. Thank you so much for indulging in this silly little goober.
