Hot damn, I just got a taste of how rich people get talked to. I got an email from a Director of Philanthopy, and HOW do you come across that politely poised and buttery, porcelain smooth in an email?? Like, the email had good posture and bespoke shoes, somehow. (Why was I getting this email? NOT BECAUSE I AM THE TARGET AUDIENCE THAT'S FOR SURE. But I offered feedback in the early stages of some exhibit copy, which is how I assume I ended up in his rolodex. Because the email was really about the attached PDF, which was about WINGS OF THE MUSEUM AVAILABLE TO BE NAMED AFTER DONORS, which, LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL I am several million trillion monetary units from having the means for or inclination toward such a thing. But it was the most beautiful email, truly.
Like if a tea ceremony were an email, it would be this email. Lightly tailored, full of grace, seasonally specific. Just perfect.
Except for the part where I received it and immediately thought "I wonder if the Kuchiki staff can match this," which is, well.
Evidence of some life choices/predilections I must simply live with.
But anyway, like, even the most polished speakers in Bleach still kind of come across like they think everyone around them is an asshole (Byakuya, Aizen). Which is absolutely not the vibes this email gave off. But maybe the Kuchiki Director of Philanthopy, for instance, can be posh without it being politeness that masks actual disdain or condescension. What. a. skill.
