National Pig Day!

Domestic Pig (Sus scrofa domesticus or Sus domesticus). It's #NationalPigDay and the first day of this month's libraries’ challenge from @transportationlibrary, @nul_prescons and @utsaspeccoll, featuring #BoringButBeautiful things! National Pig Day was started in 1972 by two sisters who felt that we needed "to accord the pig its rightful, though generally unrecognized, place as one of man's most intellectual and domesticated animals." Studies have shown that pigs exhibit intelligence similar to dogs!

Something different for #boringbutbeautiful today: spotlight on the Rosenbach museum exterior. When you walk down Delancey Place and other streets in the historic Fitler Square neighborhood, you might not notice the metal grilles that cover many basement windows at street level--but many of them are designed to be ornamental and unique.
