Borneo Elephants sometimes called Pygmy Elephants although they are similar in size to their cousins in Peninsular Malaysia. Borneo Elephants are found mainly in Sabah, Malaysia in Northeastern Borneo with a few in North Kalimantan in Indonesian Borneo. The main threat to Borneo Elephants is habitat loss due to deforestation that is driven by logging and palm oil plantations. Efforts continue to set aside corridors between fragments of intact rainforest. There are some protected rainforest lands with most elephants found along the Kinabatangan River in Sabah Malaysia. These photos are from my photo archive library from various sources including Animal Planet, WWF and other photographic sources. #BorneoElephants #PygmyElephants #SundaElephants #AsianForestElephants #BorneanElephants #ElephantsFromBorneo https://www.instagram.com/p/CFf-Yaxlm1B/?igshid=1hxxxhdl6cwje
